The best way to rebound after a tough loss is a decisive victory. Last night, the Blue Devils of Gull Lake were the recipients of just that…a very decisive win by both the Mattawan Men’s Varsity and JV soccer teams.

The JV team started the evening off with a 4-0 victory bringing them to a record of 4 and 1 on the season. Bryce Headapohl had two goals assisted by Connor Worden and Ben Nestor. Evan Nagra and Victor Lafleche each contributed with a goal each.

Not to be outdone, the Wildcats Varsity team came out with a chip on their shoulder and proved that the loss earlier in the week was a fluke with 5-0 route of the Blue Devils. Scoring started with a Josh Stewart header assisted by Luke Nicey. Hayden Campbell scored assisted by Dylan Bartholomay. Moments later Max Pung hit a banger assisted by Jack Nestor. But the Cats weren’t done. Luke Nicey served up another goal, this time a header by Chase Davis. And finally Tyson King buried one assisted by Adam Nowicki. It was definitely a team effort.

Both teams head to Grand Ledge this weekend with hopes of more victories to take them into next week when they meet PN and PC.
