This weekend, Ascend wrestlers were all over the Midwest competing and getting better.

• Wrestlers attended the Bo Bassett Camp in Grandville.
• Ben Bortolussi placed 2nd at Windy City Nationals.
• Several wrestlers competed at the Soaring Eagle Warzone.

We are competing, learning, and improving every day.

Nothing changes this week—we’re back in the room and back to work.

Reminder: Registration will close this week for any last-minute commitments. We will not be offering drop-ins as we continue to focus on developing full-time wrestlers preparing for Girls National Duals, Fargo, and The Rumble.

Huge thanks to Chase Krapil and his family for making the trip over to Ascend and scrap with some of our guys!

Chase is an Illinois hammer from the Chicagoland area that took 4th at the state tournament in the Intermediate (9 y/o and 10 y/o) age group this year. He’ll also be wrestling on our Rumble team here in a couple weeks.

He’ll continue to be in the room throughout the summer with our youth guys, and the kid works his butt off! Happy to have him on our team!

The response to Ascend Wrestling Academy has been overwhelming!

Starting fresh came with challenges, but the Southwest Michigan wrestling community has responded in a huge way. Despite summer vacations and other sports, our wrestlers have been putting in the work every week.

We are nearly full and will be closing registration next week.

We will not be offering drop-in practices. We are looking for committed wrestlers and families who want to be part of building something special.

Current enrollment:
• 50 High School & Middle School Wrestlers
• 40 Advanced Youth Wrestlers
• 20 Girls Night Wrestlers

Back at it today at Ascend Wrestling Academy!

While many athletes were in the room training last week, several of our wrestlers were out competing and preparing for some big events this weekend.

Kendall Lopez and Ana Sophia Vega spent the weekend training with Team Michigan as they prepare for National Duals later this month.

We also had four wrestlers competing at the Beach Wrestling Tournament in Grand Haven.

Congratulations to our placers:

🥉 Finn Carlin – 3rd Place
🥉 Riley Watson – 3rd Place

Practice is important, but growth happens when you consistently test yourself in competition. Whether it’s the wrestling room, Team Michigan camps, beach wrestling, or national events, our athletes continue to seek opportunities to improve.

We’re proud of the work being put in across all levels of the program. Now it’s time to get back in the room and keep climbing.

Reminder that Ascend Wrestling Academy will be hosting a Rumble Prep Camp on Saturday, June 27th with Coach JD and Coach Leo! This camp will be at no cost to those competing on any of our six teams that we are taking to the Rumble in Sandusky, Ohio.

Those that aren't part of a Rumble team but looking for additional training opportunities, you may still register at a cost of $20 for the day.
