🏊‍♀️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♀️

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Today we’re catching up with Desiree Kern Harris, Class of 2018! 🎓 Desiree made her mark in the record books and still holds the Women’s 50 Freestyle record and is part of the 200 Medley Relay record team! 🏅🔥

After her time at Central Lafourche, Desiree continued her education at Nicholls State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics in 2022 🎓. She then went on to FranU, where she completed her Dietetic Internship and Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences in 2023 👩‍⚕️📚. After passing her national boards, she officially became a Registered Dietitian in April 2024.💪

Today, Desiree works in cardiac rehabilitation in Lafayette, helping others live healthier lives ❤️‍🩹. She married her husband, Landon, in May 2025 💍 and the couple is expecting their first child in October 2026! Congratulations!! 👶💗

Swimming has continued to be a big part of Desiree’s life. After high school, she stayed involved by coaching year-round swimming and teaching swim lessons 🏊‍♀️. She says swimming will always be her favorite way to stay active and escape the world. 💚

Desiree swam under Coach Gaynell Dufrene, along with many other supportive coaches throughout her swim career, all of whom she credits as key influences in her success both in and out of the pool. 🙌

When it comes to memories, Desiree says if she could go back to any time in her life… it would be high school swim 🥹💚
Some of her favorite memories include:
🍽️ Weekly team dinners after meets
🏊‍♀️ Competing at state each year
🤣 And of course… Fun Relay Thursdays

Her favorite event was the 50 Freestyle, where she loved the adrenaline rush of an all-out sprint and constantly working to improve her technique to get faster. ⚡

Swimming taught Desiree many important life lessons:
➡️ Cherish every moment
➡️ The value of discipline and hard work
➡️ Perseverance
➡️ The power of a team 💪

She still follows the CLHS Swim Team today and says seeing the program continue to grow and flourish truly warms her heart 💚💛

🎶 Fun Fact: Desiree had a hard time picking just one walk-out song 😄 but said it would definitely be a fun throwback like “Boom Boom Pow” or maybe some One Direction or Jonas Brothers for her inner fangirl 🎧✨

Thank you, Desiree, for representing Trojan Swimming and continuing to make an impact in your community! 💚💛

🏊‍♂️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♂️

Today we’re catching up with one of our newest record holders, Nate Bellanger, Class of 2025! 🎓 Nate currently holds the Men’s 100 Freestyle record at Central Lafourche🔥🏊‍♂️

Nate is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana University, where he’s majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Small Business Entrepreneurship 📚💼. He stays busy on campus working with the tour guides office and as part of the UCA cheer staff 📣👏

While college life has kept him busy, Nate says he’ll always love a good workout in the water 🏊‍♂️💪

Nate swam under Coach Morgan Richard, who he says was one of the best because she balanced challenging workouts with fun, all while building relationships and pushing swimmers to improve every day. 💚

One of Nate’s favorite memories comes from his freshman year state swim meet. Staying up way too late, laughing with teammates, and making new friends is what makes swim season unforgettable! ✨

His favorite event? The 50 Freestyle ⚡
Why? Because it’s fast, fun, and over in seconds 🏊‍♂️🔥

Swimming taught Nate an important lesson that he carries with him today:
➡️ You can push past your limits.
Breaking personal records takes more than 100% effort and that same mindset applies to life. If you’re willing to put in the work, so much more than you think is possible.💪

Nate still keeps up with the CLHS Swim Team, and he even suggested we keep those highlight videos coming 👀🎥 (don’t worry Nate… we got you 😉)

🎶 Fun Fact: Nate’s walk-out song before a race would have been “Fireball” by Pitbull 🔥🎧

Thank you, Nate, for continuing the tradition of Trojan Swimming and setting the standard for the next generation! 💚💛

🏊‍♀️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♀️

Today we’re catching up with Caitlyn Guidry, Class of 2018! 🎓 Caitlyn helped make Trojan swim history as part of the CLHS 200 Medley Relay record team, a record that still stands today! 🏅🔥

Since her days in the pool at Central Lafourche, Caitlyn has accomplished something huge. She graduated with her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in May of 2025 🎓👏 and now works as an outpatient hand therapist, helping patients recover and regain function every day. 💪🖐️

Swimming is still a big part of Caitlyn’s life. While she’s no longer competing year-round, she says the pool is still her escape from reality. 🏊‍♀️ She even completed her first triathlon and loved it! Anytime life gets stressful, she finds herself back in the water because, as she puts it, “it feels like home.”

Caitlyn swam under Coach Gaynell Dufrene, who left a lasting impact on her and so many Trojan swimmers. Caitlyn remembers that Coach Gaynell always pushed them to do their best while still having fun, reminding the team that what mattered most was being proud of themselves, win or lose. 💚

One of Caitlyn’s favorite memories came during her senior year state meet, when she and her teammates broke the CLHS 200 Medley Relay record. It is a moment that still stands out as one of the highlights of her swimming career! ✨🏊‍♀️

Her favorite individual event was the 200 Backstroke, where she loved being able to completely zone out and focus on her own race. 🏊‍♀️

Swimming also taught Caitlyn an important life lesson she carries into her career today:
➡️ Small improvements matter.
It’s something she learned through training and racing, and now it’s a lesson she hopes her patients learn during their recovery as well. ❤️

Caitlyn still keeps up with the CLHS Swim Team! Watching each new group of swimmers find success and fall in love with the sport is something she truly enjoys seeing. 💚💛

🎶 Fun Fact: If 17-year-old Caitlyn had a walk-out song before a race, it would have been “Rise” by Katy Perry.🔥

Thank you, Caitlyn, for representing Trojan Swimming and for continuing to inspire others in and out of the pool! 💚💛

🏊‍♀️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♀️

Exciting 🥰LOVE🥰 story today!!! We’re catching up with Amber Bonvillain, Class of 2016! 🎓 Amber helped secure her place in the CLHS record books as part of the 400 Free Relay record team! 🏅🔥

After graduating from Central Lafourche, Amber joined the United States Air Force 🇺🇸✈️. Today she is a senior at the University of New Orleans, where she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in English 📚🎓

Swimming continued to have an impact on Amber’s life after high school. She credits the sport with helping prepare her physically for her time in the Air Force, building the strength and discipline needed to succeed. 💪🏊‍♀️

Amber swam under Coach Gaynell Dufrene, who helped guide many Trojan swimmers during their time in the pool 🏊‍♀️

Amber’s favorite swim team memory is actually a pretty special one 💕 During her junior year at swim practice, her teammate Noah Nicholas (also a swim team record holder) asked her to homecoming! Fast forward and these two have been married for 5 years and have a 2-year-old child together. Talk about a Trojan love story! 💚💛

Amber’s favorite event was the 50 Freestyle, a race she loved for the pure adrenaline rush of an all-out sprint from start to finish. ⚡🏊‍♀️

Swimming also helped Amber through some tough times in high school. She shared that being part of a team and spending afternoons laughing with teammates at practice made a huge difference. The experience taught her an important lesson:
➡️ Surround yourself with good people. And we all know that swim people are the best people 😉

Amber still enjoys following the CLHS Swim Team and says it makes her so happy to see the updates. Even if it isn’t always the most popular sport, she’s incredibly proud of every swimmer who continues to represent Central in the pool. 💚💛

🎶 Fun Fact: Amber’s walk-out song before a race would have been “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift! 🎧🔥

Thank you, Amber, for representing Trojan Swimming and helping build the tradition of the CLHS Swim Team! And for sharing the best swim team love story ever!!!💚💛

🏊‍♂️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♂️

Introducing Zachary Montz, Class of 2017! 🎓 Zach left a major mark in the CLHS record books and still holds the school records in the 50 Free and 100 Back, and was part of the “bad to the bone” 400 Free Relay record team! 🔥🏊‍♂️

Believe it or not, Zach never swam competitively until his freshman year at CLHS. In fact, he wasn’t even planning to swim at all! One day during summer school, he was sleeping in the computer lab when Coach Gaynell Dufrene and fellow record holder Amber Bonvillain found him. Coach Gaynell asked him a simple question:
➡️ “You like swimming?”

The rest is Trojan swim history. 💚

Today, Zach is a husband and proud dad of two, staying busy with family life while “minding his business.” 😄 He also works as a personal coach and is currently training for his first triathlon! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ He’s also hoping his kids take up swimming so he can experience the sport again someday as a proud swim parent in the stands (Let’s be real though, swim parents are usually timing behind the block!)

Zach swam under Coach Gaynell, who he credits with helping him believe in himself, take pride in everything he does, and enjoy the journey along the way. He also gave a shoutout to team manager Emmanuel Danos, who always made sure the team went into races feeling motivated and ready to compete. 💪

One of Zach’s favorite team traditions was “Fun Relay Thursday.” 🤣 The boys’ team would go head-to-head with the girls in relays with crazy twists — underwater relays, big t-shirt relays (where swimmers had to pass the shirt before the next swimmer could go), and plenty of friendly competition. According to Zach… the boys usually came out on top. 😏

His favorite event was the 50 Freestyle, a race he loved because it’s all-out speed and pressure. One small mistake and the race can be over in a blink which made it even more exciting. ⚡🏊‍♂️

Swimming also taught Zach an important life lesson:
➡️ Consistency is everything.
“How you do one lap is how you do everything. You’re seconds, maybe milliseconds away from being a champion.”

Zach still keeps up with the CLHS Swim Team and loves seeing the program continue to grow and thrive. He’s hopeful the Trojans will bring home a District Championship soon! 💚💛

And he left current Trojan swimmers with some powerful advice:

💬 “Don’t blink. One day you’ll wake up a decade later and realize how fast it all went. Enjoy the early morning practices, the meets, the adrenaline of the race. I’d trade places in a heartbeat just to dive in one more time.”

(But he also added… someone please break his records already. 😆)

🎶 Fun Fact: Zach’s walk-out song before a race would have been “Set It Off” by Boosie 🔥🎧

Thank you, Zach, for helping build the tradition of Trojan Swimming! 💚💛

🏊‍♀️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♀️

Today we’re catching up with Sara Breakfield, Class of 2015! 🎓 Sara made her mark in the Central Lafourche record books and still holds the school records in the 100 Backstroke and as part of the 400 Free Relay! 🔥💪

After graduating from CLHS, Sara attended Nicholls State University, earning her degree in Dietetics in 2019 🎓. Today she works for Aramark Healthcare as a CBORD Administrator. Outside of work, life keeps her busy as a proud mom to a 1-year-old son and stepmom to her 8-year-old stepdaughter 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️

Swimming continued to be a big part of Sara’s life even after high school. From 2015–2020 she coached with Crawfish Aquatics at Nicholls, serving as both an assistant coach and head coach for multiple age groups. She also helped teach swimming lessons during their summer programs. 🏊‍♀️👏

Sara swam under Coach Gaynell Dufrene, who coached her since she was 8 years old. Sara shared that Coach Gaynell’s legacy, from the Lockport Lightning days to Thibodaux and eventually Central Lafourche, had an extraordinary impact on so many swimmers. 💚

One of Sara’s favorite CLHS swim memories?
✨ Breaking records as a relay team.
She says there was nothing better than everyone working and pushing together toward the same goal 💪🏊‍♀️

Sara’s favorite event was the Backstroke, where she truly found her strength in the water and where she left her mark in the CLHS record book. 🏅

Thank you, Sara, for helping build the tradition of Trojan Swimming and for continuing to share your love of the sport with young swimmers! 💚💛

🏊‍♀️💚💛 CLHS Swim: Where Are They Now? 💛💚🏊‍♀️
We want to highlight some of our School Record Holders! And we are starting off with the name that appears the most in the Women’s records!

Introducing Felicite Robichaux Duet, Class of 2015! 🎓 Felicite left a huge mark on the Central Lafourche record board and still holds an incredible 4 school records in the 500 Free, 100 Fly, 200 IM, and as part of the 400 Free Relay! 🔥🏅

After graduating from CLHS, Felicite attended Nicholls State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2021 and later continued her education to complete her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) in 2025. 👩‍⚕️🎓

In October 2023, Felicite married her husband, Dex Duet, and the two enjoy spending time together with their two doodles. 🐶❤️

Swimming continued to be part of Felicite’s life after high school. She worked as a lifeguard and swim lessons instructor. Today she stays active through cycling 🚴‍♀️ and dancing with the Muff-a-Lottas dance troupe. 💃

Throughout her swimming career, Felicite was coached by Gaynell Dufrene, Jeannette Coffey, and Mike Falati, each of whom guided her during different stages of summer league, high school, and year-round swimming. She credits them with helping shape not only her swimming ability but also teaching her discipline, perseverance, and the value of hard work. 💚

One of Felicite’s favorite Trojan swim memories was traveling to the state swim meet each year. The trip always felt like a mini team vacation after months of hard work, and the excitement and energy of the meet made it an experience she’ll never forget. ✨🏊‍♀️

Her favorite event was the 200 Individual Medley, a race she loved because it includes all four strokes. 💪

Swimming also taught Felicite an important life lesson:
➡️ Consistency and discipline lead to progress.
Showing up to practice day after day, even when you’re tired, builds the habits needed to succeed not just in the pool, but in life.

Felicite still enjoys following the CLHS Swim Team and loves seeing the program continue to grow and succeed, with new swimmers creating their own memories and accomplishments each season. 💚💛

🎶 Fun Fact: Felicite’s walk-out song before a race would have been “Sing” by Ed Sheeran! 🎧🔥

Thank you, Felicite, for helping to build the tradition of Trojan Swimming and for representing CLHS so well in and out of the pool! 💚💛
