Iowa Youth Rugby Association's Fall Girls Season that Mason City Riverhawk Girls Rugby competes in is just around the corner. This would be a great way to give back to youth rugby and rugby in general! Expand your rugby experience by considering this local course!

Boys came home Friday with a pair of losses, but several good moments. Leading the way was Team Captain Sam Collins with 3 trys, 2 conversions, and heads up plays throughout the evening.

The boys are back in action tonight as they hit the road to West Des Moines Valley! Their Week 4 matches start with an exciting matchup against Muscatine High School Rugby and then end their evening in a rematch against a strong Waterloo side.

Our friends over in Cresco had to do the right thing and postpone the matches for tomorrow evening with the impending severe weather.

So unfortunately the boys won't be taking their first bus trip... ...YET! We will let you know the details on the rescheduling of the matches once we receive that information.

While it is unfortunate, we would like to thank Crestwood Rugby Club for looking out for all of our teams' student athletes!

This Friday the boys take a bus trip for the 1st time this season as they head on over to Cresco, Iowa.

They'll get to play a developing club in Dubuque and a tough Crestwood team that brings the grit in every match they play. Riverhawks had a big win in Cresco last year, but lost to Crestwood in the 3rd place match at state. Look for that rivalry to continue to develop.

The Riverhawks sit at 1-4 through 2 weeks. Optimism will be found in the lessons learned from having had the league's toughest schedule through 5 matches. They'll look to bounce back in Week 3 in their quest to make the State Tournament.

JV Try of The Week:
Cambridge Behrends

In his 1st week of competition, this freshman did his thing! Beyond this try, he performed well in many fundamental areas of the game and found himself logging some varsity minutes as a reserve before the night was up.

Well done, Cam! The future looks bright!

Week 2 Player of The Week:
Joseph Hauser

Joe, now in his 3rd year, was selected Vice Captain of the team and for good reason. He is a leader in training sessions and also leads his team during games. This week was no exception as he showed his powerful running prowess, was strong in support, showed the highest work rate, and was the most vocal leader the team had on the night.

From his freshman year to sophomore year to his junior year we have seen a noticeable jump in his confidence and play. 5 games in, he is looking like a premier ball carrier and support player on offense, while also a tackling force on defense.

Well done, Joe!
