We have decided to re power the Blackfin this winter with all the lower issues we’ve had the last two years. The ride will be even smoother than the past two. We are excited for the up coming season as the phone is starting to ring!

So two weeks ago I decided to enter my first ever salmon tournament on Lake Michigan running my own team. To make a long story short - coming in day 1 I blew a lower on my starboard motor. We were 1.9 miles from the pier head, coulda cried. Big disappointment but our team stayed positive and we shook it off.
in Kalamazoo had me a new lower bolted on and back running in 3 days. I cannot say enough good things about this place. There mechanics are top notch.
Fast forward to this past weekend. We fished the Muskegon derby. We had a game plan and stuck to it. Day #1 we found ourselves in second place. Good buddy Ryan Bourdo was CLOSE behind in 3rd. We were about 1.5 lbs out of first behind Jon Schultze and his team.
Day 2 same plan. Get our 10 silvers and pull and go trout fishing. We had our 10 just before 9 am and made a 30 mile run to the grounds. First trout was about 16 lbs. I made a mistake a made the decision to set some high spoons for steelies which handicapped us. Only aloud to catch 15 fish and then your done. We caught a tiny coho and king right away which only allowed us 2 more fish so we pulled those and caught our last two trout.
Weighin - we had our 10 fish to weigh and knew it was gonna be close seeing how the top 3 spots were separated by 3ish pounds.
Ryan had a hell of a day and ended up 1.2 lbs ahead of us for the win. Congrats my friend you deserve it.
We were lucky enough to boat a 28.85 on day one which won big fish and 2 just over 20 on day 2 which secured the win for 333 and big fish overall. Couldn’t have asked for a better turnout. Tournament Trail does an outstanding job and we will try our luck this weekend at the big red classic.
