Faith, Family, Football: The Son(s) Also Rises Edition

When I volunteered for social media for this team in 2023, I wanted to use the platforms to promote our program. I wanted to “live tweet,” so fans near and far could follow us, while also giving recruiters a look at all we had to offer. Three seasons, 39 games, later, I’m walking away from this role feeling so blessed.

Being on the field during games gave me the opportunity to see my own son, Cam Fox, up close, no doubt embarrassing him on countless occasions. It also gave me the chance to see the arm talent of John Welde and the kicking wizardry of Gavin McLain. I got to see the swagger of Jalen Patterson, and the non-stop motor of Tristan Laing. I never heard a football hit Fode Wilks’ hands because they’re just that soft. I was respectfully called “Sir” by Hakim Allah…not sure if he knows my name. I witnessed the thump of a Sadiq Kamara tackle, and the endless skill set of Amahj Gowans, as he rumbled to a PCL rushing title. We stepped up our social media game this season, as I got to collaborate with a pair of very talented creators, Jason Kutufaris and Matt Chin.

I also got a look at the future. The raw athleticism of Sammy Dantonka. The combined power and finesse of Davonte Ferrigon and Isaac Day. The strength of Landon Waller and Jay King-Gant, and the versatility of Braylon Harris and Aaron Madeh. The Super Sophs: Simon Horta, Emlio Martinez, Bobby Bower, and Musa Bangura. To those I didn’t call out by name, I saw you, and your contributions to the team’s success don’t go unnoticed.

Friday was a tough way for a magical season to end. A brutal call leaves us feeling like something was taken from us. While the pain of that loss will sting for a very long time, they can never take from you your hard work or your successes. Years from now, you will look back at the fall of 2025 with unrivaled pride. I will too.

I only had one son on the team, but consider each of you honorary sons. To the Sons of Sproul Road, I say go forth and conquer. It was a privilege to follow you the last few seasons. I’ll be following your careers, on and off the field, for years to come.

On Halloween Night, 64 teams, across the Commonwealth, entered the dojo to fight for the PIAA 4A State Championship. This morning, four teams are waking up with the dream still alive. We are one of them.
