We have a local celebrity among us! Congrats Ryan Dye

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Dye, Class of 2012

Ryan Dye continues to make a difference in the Marion community through his dedication to young athletes. Since joining the Marion Merchants in 2022, Ryan has coached both softball and baseball, building strong relationships with his players while teaching teamwork, accountability, perseverance, and what it means to be a great teammate.

His leadership goes far beyond the game. Ryan creates an environment where athletes feel supported, valued, and encouraged to believe in themselves, leaving a lasting impact on the players he coaches.

Thank you, Ryan, for continuing to represent MCS and giving back to the Marion community!

Cool history on Marion's long baseball tradition!

Sept. 2 – By the late 1800s, baseball had become one of Marion County’s favorite sports resulting in the formation of numerous local teams. The first “official” team is believed to have been organized in 1881 when the Marion Mohawks played their games at the Diebold lot on South State Street east of where the former Carnegie Library (now the Explore-It-Torium Children’s Museum) is located. By the early 1900s, numerous other teams had formed in Marion County including the Marion Diggers, Caledonia Red Stockings, Marion Reds, Prospect Nine Old Stars, Davids Street Athletic Association, and the Agosta Independents to name a few.

America 250-OH: Marion is a community-wide commemoration of the nation's 250th anniversary, co-led by Marion Community Foundation and Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to showcase the remarkable ways Marion has shaped the American story. Learn more at http://visitmarionohio.com
