Just a personal opinion I suppose, but from my experience shooting iron sights. Ill share a great secret for success. If you are struggling with seeing the front sight being centered in the rear sight notch while staying target focused (generally while shooting extremely fast) its probably because your rear sight doesnt allow for enough light to come through on each side of the front sight (known as equal light) alot of times factory sights line up so there is almost 0 light on each side of the front sight. This might be ok for target shooting but it's horrible for practical shooting.

So on this particular handgun for example the front factory sight is 3.40mm wide and the rear sight notch is 3.50mm wide this allows for .05mm of light to come through to the rear sight with perfect sight alignment.

The non installed replacement sight (green) is 2.77mm wide this allows for about .36mm of light to come through each side of the front sight when the sight is perfectly aligned.

This extra light is important when you start shooting "at speed" because it allows your brain to process alot more information before during and after the shot breaks.

Give it a try sometime if you still shoot the ol irons. Bet you won't be disappointed. 🇺🇲🤘👍

What an excellent way to wrap up the year for ccw classes. Great students, who turned into great shooters, and guys/girls that really knew how to have fun! I love doing smaller ccw classes for this reason. Everything gets done sooner and we have time to play at the end of class.

Normally I try not to shoot much other then demos for ccw classes so I can try to spend as much time teaching as possible. But today I was told they wanted "to see me shoot something cool" which is something ive never heard before from a student. That made this kind of a special day for me and makes me realize why I love working so hard to not just be able to shoot well but to teach the best I can.

So the dice drill came up. There's to much to explain in this one and its alot to process. But it was a clean run all A's, 15 rounds, with a slide lock reload in 7.04 seconds. (Only 5 yards though)

My goal is to get this down to 4.5 seconds clean and be able to do it every time. But here is 6 reload 6 at 7 yards shot on a uspsa target with all A zone hits in 4.93s with a 1.5s reload that was kinda sloppy. I was ensuring a sight picture with every shot. The group was about 4.5" with .19 average split times.
