Well, this is a post I’ve held back on for awhile but no time like the present.

I am no longer going to be taking new work in. Between the slow downs with everything last year and hard time getting products I need I’ve fallen behind. Some of this is due to this being a second job for me and the success we’ve had at our company for my “real job” and it eating up a lot more than a full time job time wise. I also took on way more work than I can truly handle and that is no one’s fault but my own.

So with the responsibility of being a good Dad and husband comes time sacrifices that must be made to this work.

The combination of all these things has made it clear that I cannot be fair to my customers and to my family as well. I love taxidermy and enjoy the process but it’s best for me and my family to step away from the business side of things for the time being .

I will finish all the work I have now as fast as I can. If turn around time is a problem or if there is any other reason any of my customers who still have stuff here would like to make other arrangements please reach out to me and we can figure out something.

Thank you

Well I'm still at this point, very behind. But finish work on a few today slowly chewing through 2020 mounts. But seeing the finish line. Between tannery slow downs, material shortages and my day job, being sick, trying to keep up with a two year old without pushing everything into my wife's lap it has been a big challenge keeping up with the shop.

I appreciate everyone's patience and you'll be getting a call hopefully very soon.

There will also be some changes coming for this year when it comes to workload so stay posted.

This makes for some long nights after work at my "real job". But I love watching these things come back to life.

Thanks everyone for your patience as I work through the rest of what I have in. I learned my lesson from last year and took way less work in.

So to the customers I turned away I hope you understand and know I appreciate you giving me a call in the first place. But to keep a reasonable turn around time I had to be cognizant of what I took in.

Hope everyone enjoys your holidays.

Well tomorrow is the big day in PA.

If you happen to land a trophy here are a few things you can do to help your taxidermist out.

- Pictures and more pictures! Taken as soon as possible after landing the fish while it is still alive. In the best lighting possible to make sure what you get back is as close to nature as possible, color on a fish begins changing immediately after they are dead.

- prevent scale loss and markings by protecting the fish from the others on a stringer or against rocks etc

- wrapping in a bag or something similar, not newspaper! But not too tight which can alter the shape of the body of the fish and affect accuracy of the body to be carved.

- get it cold as quick as you can! Freeze or refrigerate as soon as you can before you take it to the taxidermist in an air tight bag or container. If you want to be real fancy you can coat the fish with a dusting of borax to help preservation.

Good luck everyone have a fun and safe first day!
