Coronado LBC offered us a great venue, a beautiful artificial green and the people and atmosphere to produce a great week of Bowls!
A huge shout out to Bob and Berie for helping us get this venue secured. Their team including Don, Mike, Joan, Melanie,Dana and,of course, Bill Hiscock, for making us feel comfortable and welcome! Everyone at the club deserves a thank you!

The PBA had the help of the entire membership, pitching in to make this year’s Qualifiers successful!
Special shout outs to those who really stood out!
Loren, Bill, Ryan, Frankie, Becky, Rick, Angel, Javier, the UK boys (Jono,Danny,Mark and Simon), Cory, Calvin and Charlie!
Also a special mention to Simone for providing all of the Hospitality for four full days! The menu and presentation was spectacular. From fresh bread and smoothies, to themed lunches and snacks, you kept us nourished all week long! I’ll try to find some help for you next year!

One more special thanks to the entire community of Coronado Island! You have a very special place and we hope to be able to join you again as soon as next year! Maybe we could finish up and throw Bill Hiscock’s 102nd birthday at the same time to really go out with a bang. We were fortunate to have him Live Stream one of the semifinals this week!

Thank you for letting us create all the Bowling memories and decide futures for some bowling careers in a wonderful place!

2026 PBA USA Qualier #4 Winner
UK Open Singles
Javier Gomez-Coronado LBC-San Diego, California

Well the Final Qualifier did not disappoint. 5 rounds of singles play from 8:30 am-8:00 pm on our last day of matches. Javier played great all week. I’m sure his local knowledge was useful as he clawed his way passed Mark Strong in the Quarters, then a grueling tiebreaker against his son Angel in the semis and on to meet Robert Busciglio in the Final. Robert was certainly on form as he took down Herbert in his semifinal, but couldn’t get across the line against this Coronado local who brought great bowling and stamina to the final match of the week. We were also able to get Angel Gomez and Charlie Herbert to announce this one on our Live Stream. The PBA is organically building our organization and we made huge steps this year in San Diego! It was a hard fought match that played through the west coast sunset which led to our final Qualifier of the week!

2026 PBA USA Qualifier Winner
World Under 25 Singles
Ce Ce Le Messurier-San Jose LBC

If you haven’t seen this brilliant, poised 17 year old bowl yet, you’re missing out! The Under 25 Qualifier had the spectators on the edge of their seats for the entire game. As Ce Ce Le Messurier and Angel Gomez (20 years old from Coronado Island, California) took the stage we settled in to watch an epic battle that had them going bowl to bowl for most of the match. Ce Ce took took the match, but there were absolutely no losers in this one. We had some technical difficulties with sound, but you can watch most of the game, including the second set below on the Live Stream! Both players, the spectators and the future of bowls all came out ahead after this magnificent bowls match!

World indoor Bowls Championships-Open Pairs
Chris Dodd-Laguna Beach LBC-Team USA
Rooz Ehdaie-Laguna Beach LBC-Team USA

These two battled it out at a high standard against some formidable opponents to make the Final against the duo of Charlie Herbert and Dan Le Messurier! It was a cracking game and a much deserved victory for this dynamic pairs team from Southern California. You can follow these two this year as they represent the US in Belfast, Ireland at the Atlantic International challenge in September. Then they will set their sights on the Open Pairs prize at Potters Resort at the World Indoor Bowls Championships! Well done boys!

2026 PBA USA Qualifier #2 Winner
World Indoor Bowls Crampionships-Open Singles
Mark Strong-Grattons IBC-Sussex, UK

Mark played beautifully all week against a challenging field of bowlers. PBA USA runs all 5 qualifiers successively with little time to rest for those progressing through the fields each day. He played well enough and held up long enough to take home the coveted crown jewel of them all! A trip to Potters Resort next January awaits this quality bowler as he returns to the UK. It’s the second time in the last three years that PBA USA will be sending one of our overseas friends to represent our branch for the WBT’s Top Prize. Mark is a wonderful person and an incredible bowler. We are proud to have him represent us!

In a brilliant first Final of the week Loren got over the line against Simon Pettingel from Sussex. We had 4 entries come over from the UK this year.
