Senior Open Gaming Association

Senior Open Gaming Association ABOUT - The Senior Open Gymkhana Association was created to encourage non-pro older riders of both genders to participate in mounted gaming.

ABOUT - The Senior Open Gymkhana Association was created to encourage older riders of both genders to participate in mounted gaming and be able to ride against those closer to their age group. The main goal is for participation and fun. This is for amateur riders that have never done the circuit or won a bunch of buckles. We are still in the experimental stage. This is why we are not charging memb

ership fees, only asking for award donation fees. We don't have a web site yet as we are not sure what the response or participation will be at this point. So for now, this is out web site page. If there is a decent response we will explore being more formal in the future. Short description of how to qualify --
1) Let us know you want to be a part of SOGA.
2) We do not hold our own playdays. You ride
in your local playdays, keep track of your
results there, and those results can be
applied here. So there are no additional fees
or play dates that you must ride in.
3) If you wish to get an award, please make
an award donation. This is completely
voluntary. IF we have sponsors for awards,
they will be awarded at the end of the
season. For detailed rules, please scroll down. PARTICIPATION IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY AND NO REWARDS OR AWARDS ARE IMPLIED OR GUARANTEED. RULES - Must be a member of SOGA before points begin to accumulate.[Note that at this time, we are not charging membership fees! Simply let us know you wish to participate by 'liking' this page and notifying us via this page.]
- - For ease of tally, a straight point system will be used to award riders in SOGA. The points are awarded based on record sheets submitted. SOGA season is from Oct of each year thru Sept 30 of the following year, just like WPRA. Point sheets must be received by Oct. 15th
[Points awarded : 1st = 6 pts./ 2nd = 5 pts/ 3 rd = 4 pts/ 4th = 3pts/ 5th = 2 pts / Participant =1pt]
If you don't place in the top 5 at the event, you still get one participation point per event run. Again, we want to encourage riders to participate!
-- Age category for rider is based upon their age at the beginning of that calendar year (Jan. 1st).
--All records must be validated with contact info from the event staff so that SOGA can call and verify
results.
---Riders can only qualify for one age group in the SOGA. Award donations are $10 donation per person per year and are required for awards. If you don't pay the award donation fee and are a top finisher, we will let you know, but might not purchase awards on your behalf. Awards will be determined for each age group based upon donations received for that year. High point winner in each age group will receive an award, we just are not sure how much we can do unless we get sponsors. Any person awarded first place in their age category is welcome to have a buckle made if there are not enough donors to have them awarded to the winners. In our first year (2015) we did have a buckle sponsor, and riders that qualified in the 50s, 60s, and 70s age group. We are hoping for more riders in coming years. Year end results will be provided as requested. Hard copies of event sheets used for point tally will be retained for at least one year. If there is enough interest to warrant a page, we can certainly do that. At this point there is only one person working actively to get this going so please be patient. If you wish, to save postal costs, you are welcome to mail in several event sheets at the same time. All event sheets must be received by Oct. 15th of the year for the points to be counted. Mail inquiries, point sheets, and award donation to:

Dear Friends and Rodeo Supporters,

Small-town rodeo is part of Oregon’s heart — but it needs your help.

Senate Bill 771 (SB 771) — the Oregon Community Rodeo Bill — is moving through the legislature. If passed, it unlocks critical funding for rodeos like ours here in La Pine and others across rural Oregon.

What’s in the Bill?

SB 771 helps towns under 12,000 people access grants for:
• New bleachers
• Safer fencing
• Upgraded chutes
• Arena lighting
• A multi-use community clubhouse

But it’s more than just buildings — it’s about:
• Supporting rural economies
• Boosting tourism
• Keeping rodeo contestants and fans safer
• Preserving Oregon’s Western heritage

Why It Matters for La Pine

We host one of the smallest rodeos in Oregon — and the only one in Central Oregon over the 4th of July. It’s more than an event; it’s a legacy. Our grounds are aging, our budget’s tight — and this bill could change everything.

How You Can Help

Write a quick support letter (just a few sentences!) saying why rodeo matters — to you, to La Pine, and to Oregon.
Email it TONIGHT to:
[email protected]

We’ll get it to legislators in Salem.

Let’s show Oregon that small towns still ride tall.
Thank you for standing with La Pine Rodeo.
