Dear Instructors and Students,

My name is Sensei Reuben Liboy, 5th DAN Head Instructor at Funakoshi Karate Hawaii. It is my distinct honor to invite you to the upcoming Claudia Laos Loo Progression Seminar, hosting on August 22 and 23 at the Halawa Gym.

As the head instructor at Funakoshi Karate Hawaii, my ongoing mission is to bring high-quality karateka and world-class instructors to the karate students of Hawaii, serving all ages and skill levels.
Seminar Structure & Curriculum
The seminar will consist of four comprehensive sessions, each lasting two hours.

In general, we will cover:
• Shifting and stabilizing the body in different directions
• Speed of transitions and rotations
• Advanced tightening and relaxing of muscles

In more detail, participants will study:
• Shifting the center of mass through linear and multi-plane movements
• Understanding the biomechanics of the midline
• Linear force transfer, rotational force, and speed
• Elastic and ballistic movements
• Contraction and expansion in techniques and transitions

The final session will serve as a comprehensive review of all material, applying these foundational principles by practicing Kata as a collective group.

Our ultimate goal is that you leave this seminar not just knowing a move, but deeply understanding exactly how to set your mind frame for kata or kumite under pressure for future training or tournaments.
