Cataloochee Ski Area, located in the mountains of Western North Carolina is the home of “Great Skiing in the Smokies!” One of the first areas in the region to open each winter, Cataloochee is committed to making your skiing and snowboarding experience the best it can be by utilizing the most advanced snowmaking systems in the Southeast. With 100% snowmaking on 18 slopes and trails including the Ca

t Cage Terrain Park, three aerial lifts and two conveyor lifts, and over 4,000 sets of rental equipment, the Cataloochee experience offers something everyone. We feature a PSIA and AASI member Ski & Ride Center with instruction for all ages and abilities, including our Kids Ski & Ride Center featuring our CAT Trackers program for kids ages 4-12. In the lodge, a fireplace and cozy atmosphere await you along with our on-site cafeteria style dining, offering three a la carte meals daily and full beverage service. Round out your day on the mountain with a visit to The Shop at Cataloochee, featuring signature gifts and apparel. The Shop also sells goggles, gloves, hats, sunglasses and other accessories to complete your visit. Down the hill in Maggie Valley, we offer Tube World, a snow tubing hill with up to 10 lanes of tubing fun, as well as Wee Bowl for tiny tots who do not meet the minimum 42" height requirement for tubing.

We miss all of you so much and can’t wait to get everyone back on the hill. We have big changes in the works and are excited to share the updates. Until then, here’s the itch you’ve been looking to itch. One last run until next season. 😉

So long, farewell, it’s time to say goodbye. 🥺

We remain committed primarily to providing a quality experience to our guests. On that note, and after much deliberation, we have made the decision to end Cataloochee Ski Area’s 2025-2026 season this week. Our last day will be Wednesday, March 11th. Lifts will spin and terrain will be open from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Daily products will be available for purchase on-site only.

We want to thank everyone who joined us for our 65th season; those who helped us break in our new Doppelmayr quad ropeway, everyone who raced, terrain parked, learned and progressed, and even those who came up to visit us as spectators just to get outside. We love each and every one of you so much and hope to see you over the next few days to ring in the season’s end.

Operations Updates + Reminders:
• Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last night session
• Sunday begins 4:30 PM daily closure
• Today is Tube World’s last day for the season

Nothing new with this, but we always recommend checking our Snow Report for the most up-to-date information about open lifts and terrain. We’ve had a lot of inquiries regarding a closing date and, as of now, we have none to share (thank goodness). We will send an update over social media and our website as soon as we have an end in site. For now, let’s get outside and hit the slopes… We can’t wait to see you all for blue bird spring riding! 😎

Come join us for Sunday Night 🏈! Err, Super 🥣! Oops! Let’s try this again…

Come join us for snow much fun on the slopes!!! We have something for everyone, including a viewing deck to watch your kiddo like a HAWK while they take a lesson or simply enjoy a few laps before heading back to school tomorrow. There is no doubt that bringing the littles to ski will earn you a PAT on the back. 😉

We receive a number of inquiries about our amenities, so we wanted to make sure and clear the air about the 🏉🏆. Yes, it will be viewable in the lodge - our s̷̷t̷̷a̷̷f̷̷f̷ guests wouldn’t allow it any other way. 😅

We can’t wait to see everyone today to enjoy these phenomenal conditions and wrap up the weekend. We’ll save you a seat by the 🔥.

WINTER CONDITIONS UPDATE

Cataloochee Ski Area remains committed to prioritizing the safety of guests and their families. We understand the concern many of you have accompanying the forecasted winter travel conditions for this weekend. We will be open for regularly scheduled hours of operation (8:30 AM - 10:00 PM) but encourage everyone to err on the side of caution and only travel if comfortable, experienced, and prepared with the appropriate gear and/or vehicle.

TEMPERATURES are projected to drop dramatically. Be prepared with a proper base, mid, and outer layer(s). Utilize hand warmers in gloves and boots. Wear face and head coverings. Wiggle fingers, toes, feet etc. to stay warm while in line for the lift and/or riding the lift. Take frequent breaks to warm up indoors. Hand warmers, gaiters, gore-Tex gloves, base layers etc. can all be purchased in our mountain shop, and snow bibs and insulated jackets are available for rent. ROAD CONDITIONS are unpredictable and not widespread. Our Snow Report is updated daily with current travel conditions to be expected on US19 through Maggie Valley and our recommendations for drivetrain and/or interventions for travel. We highly encourage guests to check this update prior to traveling, and use caution in determining whether to travel or not as we can’t give recommendations for your individual location/commute.
