Parents and players… I’ll be posting fall game results for all teams, player highlights, I have a ton of Pictures, some big team moments, Players to praise, and some hilarious videos to share of our fall season.
But the first post is for #22 Fischer Redden who’s on our 15 team.
It’s long- but he deserves some attention!
Fischer missed most of fall except the last two due to arm recovery/rest.
This past weekend we were in Biloxi for our last tourney, so he was ready to play! He pitched the first pool game facing 23 batters and keeping his pc below 60. Which is awesome after being off 8 weeks. Second pool game- he was our lead off batter. First time ever! He was so PUMPED! Got two really good hits that game, we were up 8-3 bottom of the 1st when he steals, slides @ 3rd…. And didn’t get up.
The type of injury he suffered … you don’t normally see in baseball. It’s seen in football, think Skattebo- or Dak.
Honestly …this is the first time in ten years of playing select every single weekend- that I’ve ever seen a player leave a field by ambulance.
The field umps we had were awesome, we all saw the injury- no time was wasted… they got the director on the phone immediately and he got fire/rescue there within 12-15 minutes, not in parking- but through the complex- We are on the furthest field and hardest to get too- Showtime sports and Biloxi Fire Department got that ambulance all the way to our gate.
The paramedics and rescue were so kind and patient, not only with Fischer but his Mom too. Making sure all her questions were answered, explaining every little step they were taking to stabilize him on the field to next steps.
Our umpires, directors, opposing team we were playing; Bayou Braves from Biloxi all remained
On the field until Fischer was loaded up- including parents and fans. All of our fellow Simpson county teams that were down playing- a parent or coach from every Simpson county team there- came on that field to check on Fischer; fans, players, coaches from
other teams in every all groups stopped and prayed over him, asked about him.
The kid was prayed for that day…. by thousands.
I also have to mention how utterly brave Fischer is. No way I could have handled myself
The way he did. Fischer was in tremendous
pain once they started stabilizing his leg
but he was never once rude or spoke out of anger to anyone. Didn’t shed one tear. The level of maturity he showed, the ability to keep himself calm in that very terrifying moment- was extraordinary. He may not have let go of our hands- but I didn’t mind and I know Mom didn’t!
And his Mom💕…. She led by example how every Mama should react in these situations!
Her reaction was exactly what Fischer needed in that moment - Mama didn’t get dramatic, didn’t get loud, didn’t cry, never made it about herself, never looked horrified or even scared.
Caitlin became what her son needed all while taking care of her boy, getting info on hospitals, calling Dad who was on a land rig working, asking paramedics questions about the medication they wanted to give, answering Fishers questions in the middle of it all, giving comfort, strength and reassurance when he needed and had her baby girl right there too. Two hours away from home, with no family or friends close…
Except for the Sullivan’s who anyone would want around in any emergency! And of course our boys who wouldn’t leave his side until the ambulance doors shut.
Fischer ended up breaking his tibula and fibula, had surgery early the next morning.
I saw him slide - I saw what his foot did
I still can’t explain How it was even possible.
Please pray over Fischer for complete healing, comfort, to be pain free, to stay calm when he feels frustrated, pray for patience and that maturity level to stay superior.
