Since we're on the PSA kick this morning, I'd like to remind everyone that there's no rule saying you can only belong to ONE ATV Club!

I'm not aware of any club that forces you to swear allegiance to only that one club!

Maybe you just want to join an additional club to support an area you ride in.

Maybe you're not loving the direction your current club is going?

Maybe you want to venture out and see what other clubs are doing.

It's ok. It's all good.

We had a feller stop by the club stand set up at the Madison Anson Days parade. He chatted for a bit, and was offered a membership form. He declined, saying he already belonged to another club.

(Update on the parade, and pics coming sometime soon.)

If you'd like to join our club, go to www.maatvclub.com . You can join online with paypay, or print and mail a form.

We are an ATV Club serving the Madison and Anson, Maine area. We meet April through November at the Old Point Ave meeting facility (GPS friendly address: 23 Locust Street, Madison, ME 04950). April through October we meet on the 4th Thursday of the month. In November - due to Thanksgiving - we meet....

Just a reminder that there's a beautiful poster that the town manager and I worked on that shows where ATVs are (and are NOT) allowed on the roads in Madison.

If you need a PDF copy, message me your email address, and I'll send it to you. It's also posted at many area stores and businesses around Madison.

A very generic overview:

Under no circumstances are ATVs to be on MDOT roads in Madison, other than Main Street from the KVT to Roy Drive. (MDOT roads means roads maintained for summer maintenance by MDOT and/or roads that have highway numbers (8,43,148, 201A come to mind).

Also: no ATVs on roads posted at over 45 mph speed limit.

The exception is "the 1500 foot rule" for connecting trail to trail. For those struggling with the math, this is "almost" 0.3 or 3/10 of a mile. If you reset your trip meter to zero where you pull into the road, if it turns 0.3, you're over 1,500 feet.

The specific example that triggered this reminder: Thurston Hill Rd. We've received several complaints out there. Thurston Hill Rd missed the qualification on at least two counts : (1) it's a MDOT road that's NOT Main Street, and (2) it's posted at 50 mph.

I'm not going to sit here and name EVERY road in Madison that's on the no-go list, but here are a few:

Old Point Ave
Park Street
Main Street - (beyond the Ice Cream Stand)
Ward Hill Rd
White Schoolhouse Rd
River Rd
Old County Rd
Lakewood Rd
Russell Rd

From the "wtf is wrong with people" file:

Had an extra charge of $40 ($20 x2) on the portable toilets bill this month because someone thought it would be a great idea to remove the bags of hand sanitizer from the dispenser and drop them into the toilet.

Twice.

Congratulations, whomever you are. You're an idiot. Twice.

You can't make this stuff up, peeps.

If it continues, there'll be a "hand sanitizer delete". If other stuff continues to land where it shouldn't be, there'll be a "portable toilets delete".

THIS is why we can't have nice stuff.

Have a spectacular day, peeps.

So, apparently, you can't post a PDF to Facebook.

If you feel the need to have a PDF copy of the Madison Access Route Flyer, reply with your email, and I'll send it back to you (as time permits; believe it or not, this is NOT my full-time job! LOL).

This is a collaboration between the Madison Town Manager and myself. You'll likely see it in shop windows around town. It's an effort to educate riders of the "Do and Don't" of the Access Routes around the main village area of Madison.

I'm hoping to have a PDF version to share soon, in the meantime, feel free to share this Pic.

Please remember, ATV access routes are a privilege. There is a right to rescind built into our agreement with the Town. In other words, if we all behave, we'll probably be able to continue to enjoy for a long while. If not, we all may be back to trailering before we know what hit us.

Facebook is super wonky this morning. Fourth attempt at posting this. 🤪Let's see if it actually works this time.

The guest book from the Merv Tuttle Memorial Rest Area has been filled up. A new one has been placed.

In a few days, I'm sending the filled one to Merv's widow, Sally.

Former and current club members who haven't seen it yet but would like to, can see it at my shop, mornings, for the next couple days.

If you need more info, reply below and I'll message you.
