🌿 AS THE SEASON SHIFTS, WE SHIFT TOO. 🌿

Tomorrow we step into September — and with it comes changing light, changing rhythms, and a gentle invitation to listen a little more closely to what our bodies need.

So Body & Soul is shifting its rhythm, too.

✨ SEPTEMBER CLASS SCHEDULE ✨

SCULPT & RESTORE
Tuesdays + Thursdays • 11:45 AM
Kirsten’s Ballroom at Ferlazzo1938

A little later in the morning, creating more breathing room before we come together to strengthen, mobilize, and restore.

Think of it as your midday reset. šŸ¤

MIDWEEK UNWIND
Wednesdays • 5:30 PM

As the evenings begin getting darker earlier, we’re moving Unwind up from 6:00 to 5:30.

A little earlier. A little more aligned with the changing light.

Midweek Unwind is gentle movement, breath, and space to let go of the tension we’ve accumulated throughout the week.

You don’t have to push.
You don’t have to perform.
You don’t even have to arrive feeling your best.

Just arrive.

šŸŒ™ AND ONE SPECIAL UNWIND…

ANCESTRAL UNWIND
Wednesday, September 16 • 5:30 PM

In celebration of Luna’s birthday, we’ll move through music across the generations — songs, rhythms, memories, and sounds that connect us across time.

And this one is a Bring a Loved One experience. šŸ’•

Bring your mom. Your daughter. Your sister. Your best friend. Someone from another generation. Or simply someone you love.

We’ll move, breathe, unwind, and create space for connection.

$30 for 2 people

No experience necessary. Just come as you are.

Because our bodies aren’t machines. We’re living beings, constantly responding to the seasons, the light, our environment, and the rhythm of our lives.

Sometimes we need to strengthen.

Sometimes we need to soften.

And sometimes we simply need to pause long enough to listen.

That’s what Body & Soul is here for. 🌿

September is a beautiful time to begin.

Come move with me. šŸ¤

šŸŒ•āœØ ECLIPSE EDITION of Midweek Unwind is TONIGHT.

With Thursday’s Full Lunar Eclipse in Pisces approaching, tonight feels like the perfect time to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and create some space for what’s ready to shift.

I’ve curated a special release + align playlist for tonight’s class — a little Enya, a little dreamy, a little soulful, and a whole lot of exhale. šŸŽ¶šŸŒ™

We’ll move gently, breathe, unwind, and let go of whatever we don’t need to carry into the next chapter.

No pressure to ā€œdoā€ anything with the eclipse.
Just come as you are.
Let yourself soften.
Leave a little lighter. šŸ’œ

There are seasons when the body seems to ask us to slow down before the mind has caught up.

I’ve been feeling that lately..
A little more tired, inward, less inclined to move.
And with us inside of an eclipse window, I’ve been thinking about how much we are shaped by the rhythms around us: light and dark, moon cycles, changing seasons, and the natural ebb and flow of our own energy.

Whether or not you feel a direct connection to the eclipse, transitions like this can be a beautiful reminder to pause and listen.

Well, that’s EXACTLY what Midweek Unwind is for.

Tonight at 6 PM, we move gently. We breathe. We release some of the tension we’ve accumulated.
Nothing to push through. Nothing to prove. Just an hour to come back into your body and give your nervous system a little room to exhale.

Because honoring our rhythms doesn’t mean we stop showing up.

Sometimes it means we show up differently.

Also, we’re approaching another transition…
Beginning in September, as the days continue getting shorter and we move into meteorological autumn
Midweek Unwind will move to 5:30 PM on Wednesdays.

A little earlier. A little more aligned with the changing light. šŸŒ™

Tuesday & Thursday Sculpt & Restore will also move to 11:45 AM beginning in September — creating a little more space for a midday reset!

Our bodies are not machines. We are living beings, constantly responding to our environment, our seasons, our lives, and each other.

šŸŒ•
So tonight, if you’re feeling a little heavy, tired, overstimulated, or simply in need of a pause…

Come unwind with me.

Tonight • 6 PM • Kirsten’s Ballroom at Ferlazzo1938
Gentle Movement • Breathwork • Restoration

You don’t have to arrive feeling your best.
Just arrive. šŸ’•

There is a particular kind of fear that comes with being seen.

Walking into a new room.
Joining something for the first time.
Wondering if you belong.
Wondering if everyone is looking at you.
Feeling the nervous system whisper, maybe we should just go home.

I understand that fear deeply.

I know what it is to hesitate at the threshold. To make yourself smaller. To stay where it feels familiar because familiar feels safer.

But I also know that something changes when we stop letting that fear make every decision for us.

And that is part of why I am here.

I want to create a tribe.
A community where you don’t have to arrive confident.
Where you don’t have to know anyone.
Where you don’t have to have it all figured out.

You can simply walk through the door.

Because sometimes the bravest thing we do is let ourselves be witnessed while we’re still becoming.

And when enough of us begin to do that—when we begin to soften the patterns that have kept us isolated, guarded, braced, and small—we don’t just change ourselves.

We change the frequency of the room.

And eventually, we change the frequency of the community.

That’s what I’m building.

Not just classes.

A place to come home to yourself—and to each other. ✨

Maybe survival mode isn’t the place where your story ends.

Maybe it’s where the roots begin.

In the darkness, underneath everything we can see, something is still happening. We are learning. Adapting. Developing discernment. Discovering what matters. Finding the strength to keep going.

And when we finally have enough space to move again, we can begin to cultivate with what we learned there.

We don’t have to be grateful for everything that hurt us to find meaning in what grew within us.

We don’t have to stay in survival to honor the version of us who survived.

Sometimes the roots planted in the darkest seasons become the strongest ones.

And when it’s time to rise, we don’t rise empty-handed.

We rise rooted.

We rise carrying the wisdom of everything we’ve lived through.

We rise with a deeper understanding of who we are, what we need, what we value, and what we are here to express.

There is a time to survive.

There is a time to rest.

There is a time to move again.

And there is a time to rise.

Not because the darkness was necessary.

But because you found a way to grow through it. 🌱

A few years ago I started researching ā€œsomatic movementā€. I was mainly interested in how movement affected bracing, pain, mobility, especially in people who had experienced trauma.

As I put my research into practice I noticed my own body holding less pain, becoming more mobile, & bracing less.
At some point I stumbled across this term ā€œQi Gongā€, & I realized ā€œsomatic movementā€ isn’t new. Cultures have been doing this for thousands of years. (Of coursešŸ¤”).

Qi meaning ā€œenergyā€ & gong ā€œworkā€ and while this term is relatively young the practices of breathwork, movement, meditation, & energy work through movement is ancient.
So while the research leads to the same result it’s important for me to honor the origins of this work even though my movements, sometimes borrowed from the ancient practices, are sometimes our own and what I call ā€œthe flowā€.

When I first designed this class I imagined rooms of people in a circle releasing decades of trauma. And how beautiful and palpable that would look.
What I realized was…that’s a heavy class! šŸ˜‚ & a lot of expectation for this work that is meant to create more ease.
So my original class ā€œSeven Gatesā€ became Midweek Unwind.
Everything in this experience is valuable
The music.
The breath.
And the flow.
The heavy expectation of releasing all of your burdens in a single class are gone.
We have fun. Sometimes a tear or two is shed. I slip in a little meditative contemplations sometimes. I remind others how strong and powerful and capable they, and their bodies, are.
And little by little, week by week we gently release
the hips, the spine, the breath…the burdens.

I’m so grateful to everyone who shows up for anything I’m doing. As someone who has spent the last (too many) years hiding and holding, bracing and longing to let go…you stepping across the threshold with me and allowing your body to enter the flow has been a deep honor and blessing.

I look forward to continuing this practice and growing our circle.

Wellness isn’t just about how we move.

It’s also about what we nourish ourselves with, what we put on our bodies, and our relationship with the plants that surround us. 🌿

One of the things I love about the work I’ve been doing for nearly nine years through Pug & Moon is that it gives people another doorway into herbal wellness.

Our skincare and botanical products are made with plants I grow here or personally wildcraft — never bulk-bought botanicals — and each formula is thoughtfully researched and crafted by hand.

That work has always been connected to what I mean when I say Body & Soul Wellness.

Move.
Nourish.
Gather.

Different expressions of the same idea: coming back into relationship with your body, your environment, and the natural world around you.

So if you’ve only known me through Body & Soul, you may not know about this other little corner of my work.

This is Pug & Moon. šŸŒ™šŸŒæ

And yes — herbal wellness is part of the picture, too.

You can explore the plants, products and story behind it over on our apothecary page or through the website.
