⚠️For Emergencies

*FIRST AID FRIDAY*

Calling 000 is only the first step
Providing the right information helps ambulance crews get to you faster and better prepared.

When speaking with the emergency call taker, be ready to provide:
📍 Your exact location
👤 The person’s age (if known) and condition
🩺 What has happened
💨 Whether they are conscious and breathing
🩹 Any first aid already provided
⚠️ Any hazards at the scene

💡 Most importantly:
✔️ Stay calm
✔️ Answer the questions clearly
✔️ Stay on the line until you’re told to hang up
✔️ Follow any first aid instructions provided by the call taker

Remember, you don’t need to know all the answers. Simply give the best information you can. Your calm communication can help emergency services respond quickly and effectively.

🥾🧠 Could Regular Hiking Help Keep Your Brain Sharp?

A growing body of research suggests that regular hiking may improve memory and cognitive performance. Combining physical activity with time in nature may support brain health by increasing blood flow, reducing stress, and stimulating areas involved in learning and memory.

Research suggests hiking may:

🧠 Support memory and cognitive function
❤️ Increase blood flow to the brain through physical activity
🌿 Reduce stress and mental fatigue by spending time in nature
😊 Improve mood and emotional well-being
⚖️ Support healthy aging and overall fitness

Simple ways to get started:

🥾 Choose a beginner-friendly trail or local nature path.
💧 Bring water and stay hydrated.
👟 Wear supportive footwear and hike at a comfortable pace.
🌳 Make hiking a regular habit by inviting friends or family.

📚 What the research says: Studies suggest that both regular exercise and exposure to natural environments are associated with better memory, attention, and overall cognitive health. However, more research is needed to determine whether hiking itself provides unique brain benefits beyond those of other forms of physical activity.
