Monday Morning Recap:
It was quite the busy weekend for the 25 team as we went to Madison International Speedway on Friday night for the Big 8 and then made the trip over to Grundy County Speedway for the Saturday night show.
I'll keep Friday short and sweet, finally got the car to a great stable point that allowed me to work on my line, running my fastest laps of the year so far in the heat race. With about 12 or 13 to go in the feature we decided to bring it in so I didnt mess up the leaders race as the whole race went green and everyone was too spaced out for me to competitively finish out the race.
Then we go to Saturday. Oh what a night and a true accomplishment for what I set out to do this year. Started practice 1 with great speed and that same stable racecar. Was 5th in times after practice 2 while consistently running my best laps ever(14 cars total). Then we got to qualifying where I held that same time but guys got quicker so I ended up 9th. In the heat race we started 3rd row outside and managed to miss a few potential wrecks and finished 4th in a quick 6 laps.
Then it was feature time, the return of 'Front Row Beyer' lived on as I started front row outside. This was my first time on the k**b and definitely didn't get the best start but was able to get down and chase the leader. We battled hard for the lead for 13 laps as I tried every move I could think of to get around him until the yellow came out with 12 to go. (This was also when I ran the fastest lap of the night almost cracking in to the 15's). We restarted on the outside again and with the help of my dad on the radio, got a heck of a restart and cleared the leader off of 2. I got to lead my first couple laps in a feature which was amazing until I got passed. There was another yellow with 7 to go and I restarted 2nd. We really didnt need that yellow as we had started to pull away from the field and I could've maybe held on for 3rd. Restart happens single file and as soon as I let one guy get to my door the train started which found me back to 6th to finish out the night with a lot of smiles.
For those who dont know my journey, I've been answering the same question since high school, "When are you getting back in the car? We all know you can do it." I've pushed and begged my parents over the last 2 or 3 years to give me that chance and we all finally decided to go after it. This year has been up and down for sure in regards to me finding speed and getting comfortable but Saturday I was finally able to prove to myself and my fans that I can do this and I can compete with the best in the area.
I want to thank my parents, my girlfriend, and all my crew for their hard work this week as they help support my dreams of racing. Everyone's story is different and we all have different ways of getting here, I'm just proud that my time is now and I'm loving every minute of it.
Thanks again to my sponsors as well for funding me to be able to do this. This race has us wanting to add a few more shows to the end of the year schedule and I still have the hood and bumper cover available for sponsorship if anyone wants to help us finish out the end of the year and be able to purchase tires so that I can be competitive.
See you next time, at the races 🏁
