You may have noticed that we don’t post dramatic “before and after” photos of horses that come into our program. That is intentional.

The exception is when we are documenting our own breeding and training program and showing a horse’s development over time. We are proud of that work and happy to share it.

We take plenty of horses from other programs and have tremendous success with them, but we don’t need to diminish another trainer’s work to showcase our own.

Why We Don’t Do Sponsorships

We are approached fairly often by companies looking to market their products to the many riders and horse owners who come through our doors. In fact, just this week, two different companies reached out to us about sponsorship opportunities.

We realize that, with the amount of clients that come through our doors, we could probably push a lot of products. But we simply don’t feel that is who we are. We prefer to keep things classy, elegant, and authentic.

We don’t use one feed brand, one saddle brand, one riding boot brand, one supplement brand, or one helmet brand simply because we have a sponsorship. Horses and riders are individuals, and what works beautifully for one may not work for another.

And honestly, what works for us may not work for you, and that’s okay, too. We believe everyone is doing the best they can with the knowledge and experience they have.

So, if you see something being used in our barn or in our guest house, you can be confident that we use it because we genuinely believe in it. Not because we are being paid to promote it, because we received it for free, or because we make money by encouraging our clients to purchase it.

You won’t see sponsored products pushed on our website or social media simply because a company wants access to our audience.

This isn't a criticism of anyone who chooses to partner with brands. It’s simply not the approach that feels right for us.

Our reputation and the trust our riders place in us are worth far more than any sponsorship.

If we use it or recommend it, it’s because we stand behind it. Period. 🐴❤️

One student splits her year between a demanding corporate job, Massachusetts, and Florida. Her horses stay in full training the entire time she's away. She doesn't come back to start over — she comes back to horses that kept progressing without her, ready for wherever she left off. For an adult amateur balancing a career around riding, that's not a convenience. It's the reason the whole thing is sustainable.

He'd wait for her to sort it out. That patience isn't a personality quirk — it's a defining trait of the breed, and it's a real part of why so many adult amateurs coming back to riding later in life end up on a Lusitano instead of somewhere else.

Too challenging, and it's worse.

The actual skill in teaching an adult amateur is finding the space between the two — enough challenge that succeeding at it means something, not so much that succeeding feels out of reach.

That's not just encouragement. That's how confidence actually gets built.

Marie Pierre came back to riding close to 50, with dressage as something she'd mostly seen in books.

What she found instead was individualized down to the horse: what Maggie works on with her has nothing to do with what she works on with the next student, and the training on one of her horses looks nothing like the training on the other.

That's not a brand line. That's just how the lessons actually run.

The Lusitano was bred for versatility before it was bred for a ring — cattle work, military use, classical equitation.

You'll see the breed in dressage arenas and working equitation courses today, and that's not a departure from what it was built for.

The breed didn't change to fit the sport. The sport changed to make room for what the breed could already do.

The first minutes of every ride aren't about getting started — they're about finding out what showed up that day.

Tension doesn't disappear on its own. Left unaddressed, it just gets asked to move under saddle instead.

So warm-up starts with no demands, just observing before deciding what to ask for.
