I have a friend, Kendra McGaha, who has been inundated with pregnant stray kitties in the last couple months. She just got mama and one liter all adopted out and now what looks like mama’s sister has shown up and had her kittens in Kendra’s barn as well. Oy. I often feel like there is a small group of folks who quietly and out of their own pocket and time do the bulk of animal rescue. Kendra is one of them. She’s just a really good person who loves all life. Without exception (maybe ticks dont make the list). I’m going to help her out with her Amazon wishlist. Link will be in comments. If yall can help even a little that would sure be great. I’m urging her to maybe give her Venmo for vet donations because getting a whole liter of kittens and their sweet mama all vaccinated and fixed isn’t cheap. So far she doesn’t want to ask but she didn’t say I can’t ask. So I’m asking. If you’re willing to help with vet costs or the wish list I thank you very sincerely.

Very, very interesting. And worrisome. Americans, across the board, have seen a marked decrease in time spent in face-to-face socializing in more recent years (but it started prior to Covid according to all sources). While the trend impacts all categories of our culture in a marked manner, young people are the most impacted. I’m worried about them. Related, our country has never seen a more sustained and pronounced sense of pessimism about the present and the future. Great article. Not particularly political, which was refreshing. What is happening to us?

My mind is on giving each sunset I experience a big hug. Finding my inner zen. And sharing it. Avoiding Girl Scout Cookies (naughty evil little girls tempting me to additional chunkery!) … spending Red Herd time wisely. Missing my dad. My mind is on OBX Amd bikini weather. Working cows. Florida. The right to life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Bring my best self but loving me even when I’m not. Smooches with ponies and donkeys. Pride in my farmer tan. My mind is on the counterculture and the podcast for tenacious survivors who can recite The Constitution and explain why quarter horses should avoid lush green grass. Podcast link on th comments. Hopefully we can all smile now. Hubby will be back in the fold in Feb (Thank God) and we can be our normal mocking and mildly politically insensitive selves again yeeeefrickenhaw!
