Fairdale High School battled through adversity and found a way to win, taking down Bullitt Central 14-9 on Wednesday in a back-and-forth game at home.
Trailing 9-8 in the top of the seventh, Fairdale refused to fold. Kinsey Smallwood (2030) delivered in the biggest moment, singling to drive in two runs and spark a seven-run inning that sealed the comeback victory.
Raina Eades (2028) led the offensive charge with three hits in four at bats, including a clutch double in the seventh. Faya Webb (2026) came up big from the nine spot, going 3-for-5 and driving in three runs. Webb, Eades, Macie Singleton (2029), and Emalee Smith (2031) each collected three hits, helping power a 16-hit performance for Fairdale.
Fairdale showed resilience throughout, answering every challenge. After falling behind midway through the game, they erupted for five runs in the fifth inning to regain momentum, highlighted by Webb’s two-RBI single.
Despite the win, Fairdale knows there’s more left in the tank. The team stranded 34 runners and left the bases loaded twice, missing opportunities to break the game open earlier.
In the circle, Emalee Smith #77 (2031) delivered a determined complete game performance. The right-hander faced 41 batters and threw 120 pitches, striking out eight without issuing a walk. Her ability to compete and stay composed under pressure helped anchor Fairdale through a high-scoring game.
This was a win defined by toughness, timely hitting, and the refusal to back down. Fairdale didn’t play a perfect game—but they played with heart when it mattered most.
Fairdale High School returns home Monday looking to build on the momentum.
