What a BEAUTIFUL night to kick off our first Dragon Boat Festival Open Practice! 🥰☀️

Great paddling, gorgeous weather, and best of all: time on the water with friends from across our dragon boat community. 🐲🩵

And this is just the beginning!

Our Open Festival Practices are available for ALL festival teams, paddlers AND anyone who wants to get involved!

• Already on a team? Get some extra practice time before race day.

• New to dragon boat? Come paddle with us—we’ll help you get started!

• Looking for a team? Meet other paddlers and teams on the water.

• Thinking about starting a team? You can build a team with just 10 friends, family, coworkers or community members!

No experience needed. Coaching and equipment are provided.

💖🐉 WELCOME BACK, Derby City Dragons - Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team!

We are SO excited to welcome the Derby City Dragons back to the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Jericho! Thank you so much for your continued support and for registering to race with us again this year. We absolutely LOVE having this incredible local Breast Cancer Survivor team on the water! 💕

And before we see them at Lake Jericho, the Derby City Dragons are making some BIG waves across the world! 🌎🐉

This weekend, members of the team are competing in the IBCPC International Dragon Boat Festival in Aix-les-Bains, France, joining Breast Cancer Survivor dragon boat teams from around the world!

Derby City Dragons have been paddling together in Louisville since 2013, building strength, community and support through this incredible sport—and we could not be more excited to cheer on our hometown paddlers on the international stage!

GO, DERBY CITY DRAGONS!! Have an AMAZING time in France, and know we’re cheering for you from Kentucky! 📣🎉

And then we can’t wait to see you back on the water at Lake Jericho! 🥰

🤩🐲 INTRODUCING FESTIVAL OPEN PRACTICES!

We’re excited to offer a new way for everyone to get on the water as we prepare for the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Jericho!

Festival Open Practices bring paddlers from across the festival community together for extra practice time—and help new paddlers meet teams and get started.

These sessions are open to:

• Paddlers from every festival team
• Anyone looking for a team
• New paddlers—no experience necessary!

Come paddle, meet the festival community and find your best fit. All equipment and coaching are provided!

📍 Practices take place at RiverPark Place Marina in Louisville.

It’s not too late to race on October 3! Start a team with 10+ friends, family members or coworkers, join an existing team or register individually and let us help you find your crew.

What a BEAUTIFUL day for dragon boat!! 🤩☀️

It was almost a full boat with 19 paddlers today!! We welcomed 2 brand new paddlers and loved seeing so many returning faces, including Team TBD paddlers joining us for some extra time on the water! 💪🐲

Such a fun mix of new and returning paddlers, and an awesome day to be out on the river!

Chicks With Sticks + 502 FIRE Recreational Team are hitting the water TONIGHT and there’s still space to join them!

New paddlers are welcome! No experience needed, and we provide the equipment + coaching. Come meet the teams, get some time on the water and see where you fit for the races in October!

We’re excited to see this team at the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Jericho and looking forward a fun night!
