Think Before You Click – Phishing Awareness

One wrong click can compromise your entire system.

Phishing remains one of the most common and dangerous forms of cyberattacks today. Attackers often disguise themselves as trusted organizations or colleagues, using urgency and fear to trick you into clicking malicious links or sharing sensitive information.

Before you click on any link or open an attachment, pause and check:
✔️ Is the sender’s email authentic? (Look out for unusual domains or spelling errors)
✔️ Does the message sound urgent or threatening? (That’s often a red flag)
✔️ Can I verify this through official channels? (Call, message, or visit the site directly)

A few seconds of caution can prevent a serious data breach.
Cybersecurity isn’t only about tools and firewalls — it’s about people making smart choices online.

How Strong Is Your Password — Really?

In this digital age, your password is often the only thing standing between you and a potential cyberattack.

According to the 2023 Hive Systems table (shown below), even an 8-character password that includes numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and symbols can be cracked in just 5 minutes using modern hardware.
That’s a wake-up call for everyone during Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
Here’s what this means:

Simple passwords (like your birthday or pet’s name) are instantly breakable.

The longer and more complex your password, the safer you are.

A 12–15 character password combining numbers, letters, and symbols can take years or even centuries to crack.

Always enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) — it adds another layer of protection beyond just your password.

Cyber Safety Tip:
Create passwords that are long, unique, and unpredictable. Better yet, use a password manager to generate and store them securely.

Spotlight from the Edo Cybersecurity Summit 2025

We were honored to welcome Mrs. Joy Irenose Ihensekhien, Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, who represented Chief Bisi Idaomi, Honourable Commissioner, at the Edo Cybersecurity Summit.

In her powerful keynote address, she emphasized the critical importance of digital safety, inclusion, and resilience—especially as technology continues to shape how we live, work, and connect. Her message highlighted the need to protect vulnerable groups, empower women and youth, and ensure that cybersecurity is not just a technical issue but a social priority that safeguards families, businesses, and communities.

Her presence underscored the Edo State Government’s strong commitment to building a secure digital future and fostering partnerships that drive innovation while protecting people.

We remain grateful for her contributions and for the Ministry’s leadership in promoting cyber awareness, gender inclusion, and social development in Edo State.

On August 12, the NYSC Orientation Camp in Okada, Edo State, came alive with purpose and possibility as Flourish Foundation for Women & Youth celebrated International Youth Day with Summit Systems ISSP. What a day of community, collaboration, and creative thinking!

Corps members transformed everyday challenges into real solutions—tackling local issues with energy, innovation, and optimism.
