A private club can have excellent departments and still deliver a disconnected member experience.
That’s because members don’t evaluate golf, dining, membership, and operations independently. Every interaction contributes to their perception of the club as a whole.
This is where leadership alignment becomes critical.
When departments communicate well, understand the same service standards, and take ownership beyond their individual roles, the member experiences consistency—not the organizational chart behind it.
Operational excellence matters. But in a private club, how well the experience connects across departments is what members ultimately feel.
If you lead a club, ask your leadership team: Are we managing departments… or are we collectively managing the member experience?
