Released on December 8, 1976, Hotel California was the Eagles' fifth studio album and the first to feature guitarist Joe Walsh, who replaced founding member Bernie Leadon. It was also the last Eagles studio album to feature founding bassist and vocalist Randy Meisner.
The album became an immediate critical and commercial success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200. At the 20th Annual Grammy Awards, the title track "Hotel California" won Record of the Year, while "New Kid in Town" received the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement for Voices. The album was also nominated for Album of the Year and has since become one of the best-selling and most influential rock albums of all time.
