AYSO Fall 2021 Season
Postponement
Region 652 Players,Parents,
Volunteers and members,
By now I am sure you have all heard about the new Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Protocols for Organized Youth Sports which go into effect on September 1,2021.
Due to the increase in community transmission of COVID-19 and the predominance of the more easily spread Delta variance of the COVID-19 virus, the County of Los Angeles Health Officer issued updated Protocols.
The Protocols that affect us state as follow:
Screening Testing for COVID-19
At the current time with community transmission occurring in Los Angeles County, routine testing is required for all athletes and staff participating in moderate or high- risk sports, regardless of vaccination status.
Required testing cadence is minimum once per week.
Testing two times per week is strongly recommended for unvaccinated participates and staff.
In addition, testing must be performed within 48 hours of any Inter-team competition and results must be available before the competition begins or the athlete or staff member may not be present at the competition.
As soccer is considered a high-risk
Sport, this means that all players, coaches, team parents, referees, board members, staff and all other volunteers of Region 652 would have to be tested on a weekly basis no more than 48 hours out from a scheduled game/match.
The Board has met to discuss this situation and with heavy hearts it was unanimously decided that we should cancel our Fall season,
The board is continuing to monitor the requirements placed on youth sports and we will inform the membership of the situation as it develops.
I know that this has been a difficult 18 months for everyone and it is my hope that with patience and cooperation we will all be able to gather again soon to watch our children play and enjoy the sport we love.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
