We went racing over the weekend with the gold 19 at Muskingum for the Chad Hyatt Memorial with the Ohio Thunder IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series. The night got progressively better as we tuned the setup and I worked on my driving. Ended up 5th after the dust settled although I ran most of the race in 3rd. Our car faded pretty bad at the end so we still have some improvements to make.

Highlight of the night was giving away $150 for the Tenacity Award to Dillan Baldwin Racing in honor of Chad Hyatt. Chad was never one to shy away from hard work at the races and I wanted to reward someone for having that same spirit. Dillan and his team had a night with a lot of struggles but still did everything they could to get on the track. It was an easy choice for the Tenacity Award. Also a special thanks to Gregory Clary for helping make it all happen this weekend!

As always thank you to everyone who keeps this circus on the road. We are heading to Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis Friday night. Excited to be close to home!

In today's update about my severe racing addiction, I bring you 2 races in two states in one day!

Race 1: USAC Racing Silver Crown at the Springfield Mile for the Bettenhausen 100. Saban Bibent Racing was piloting the Sammy Fetter owned #88 and had an awesome day. Qualifed 5th of 32 cars and raced a very smart race to finish 5th when the dust settled. I have wanted to be Saban's spotter for years and am excited we finally made it happen. It was a lot of fun!

Race 2: Carson Dillion Racing took on I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park with the Old Gold power plant in his sprint car. Carson and Gregg had the car hooked up and moving forward all night. 6th to 2nd in his heat race and 5th to 2nd in the feature after a last lap battle for the win! It was some really good racing and I was happy to keep the engine tuned up and screaming in the 83.

Next weekend we are finally back on track with the gold 19 at Muskingum with the Ohio Thunder IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series

Besides having our car or engine out and about, we occasionally get to support our friends at S&W Racing!

This last Saturday night / Sunday morning (🤣) at Paragon Speedway I got to be crew chief for the team and give Bob the opportunity to just focus on being a driver for the night. It's something that he has done for Bradley and I several times so I was very happy to repay the favor.

I think it went well even if the results aren't quite what we all had hoped for. I was happy to see Bob make many smooth laps and search around the track for various lines to improve his lap times. He showed a lot of good car control when having to hit his marks and his feedback from inside the car translated well into what changes were needed to the car. (We did have to send him away from the car a time or two as he got itchy with wanting to make his own changes!)

By the end of the night the car was responding well to changes and we had a good page of notes as well. I think a little more development on the setup when it rolls off the trailer will result in even more improvements. As a team, we all made a good amount of progress.

The challenge of getting a car to feel how the driver wants is such a cool process to be a part of. I've enjoyed working on this skill over the many years of racing and I hope Bob and Derrek will have me back at some point to spin the wrenches again.

I'll say this much, I don't think anyone in the pits is having more fun than our group! Win, lose or draw these guys are a blast to hang out with!

Very proud of our engine program after this weekend. We dropped Old Gold into a different car and had zero hiccups. This engine has been sitting since last year and has nearly 30 races on it already. It was a very smooth process getting it running at full steam in the Carson Dillion Racing #83 hot rod.

Night 1 was a big success with a great run from 12th to 2nd in the feature at Bloomington Speedway .

Night 2 at Paragon Speedway was looking like a solid night until a late race spin relegated the 83 back to 13th after being up to 6th.

We are looking at the schedule and figuring out the plan for getting the #19 back on track soon. You never know where we might end up or who might drive the car, but we'll be at a racetrack somewhere!

Night 1 of the weekend at Bloomington Speedway with the Huntleys Hoosier Winged Sprint Series went great with our power plant in Carson Dillions car!

It's fun watching your stuff go to the front.

Thanks to an early pill draw and a greasy track qualifying kind of buried Carson early, but he rebounded through the night and put on a show driving from 12th to 2nd.

Ready to rock and roll again tonight at Paragon Speedway !

With the #19 down for repairs we had to pivot our weekend plans a little bit. We had originally planned to have Carson Dillion in the car for the weekend at Bloomington Speedway and Paragon Speedway. So the next best thing we could do was drop an engine in his #83 hot rod so he can still get these races in! We are happy to help him get back to the racetrack where we know he is a contender!

It's been a lot of fun for Bradley and I working with Carson and getting to know him better. We all met up yesterday after work at my shop to get this engine in and plumbed up. Got it fired off and timed just before the sun fully set. Long day, but a lot of fun and worth it.

I'll be playing engine tuner for the team this weekend. Will be fun!
