The wind was blowing, so we decided to head to a small lake to escape it. Panfish didn’t workout, but the bass were more than willing to bite. We were finding them in 3-7 ft of water on semi hard bottoms, in warmer cuts of the lake. They were crushing natural colored chatter baits.

Bass are an often overlooked fish in the leech lake area, but provide some awesome fishing. If you want to chase brown and green bass get ahold me!

Fishing opener 2026 is in the books. Water was cold and weather was less than ideal, which made for a challenging bite. We were still able to get some fish and the average size was fantastic. Threw back more than we kept which is great to see! The magic bait was a 1/4 oz gum-ball jig and a shiner.

I still have a couple days on the weekends in May available as well as prime dates in June and July. Shoot me a message to get in on the action. Should only get better from here!

3 hours… Here’s what I’ve got tied up for opener: 1/8 and 1/4 oz tungsten jig, slip bobber with a tungsten bobber jig and lastly a Berkeley hit stick 11. I will pair the jigs with a spottail shiner or plastic, might mix in a hair jig if what I have isn’t working.
