CORE CORE is a land training and core development team for rowers and other athletes at every level, from young beginners to elite and national team members.

CORE is a conditioning program for athletes aged 12 and over. We have many years expertise coaching rowers, dancers, soccer players and other athletes from beginner, through high school, college and national team levels. We focus on core strengthening, joint stabilization and basic conditioning. Part of the CSULB Club Sports & Recreation Department, we use the gyms, track and grounds of the campu

s of Cal State Long Beach. Primary instruction is provided by Ian Simpson, a former US national team rowing coach, who was head coach for the Long Beach Junior Crew and for the Oakland Strokes junior rowing team. Also a director and coach of Southern California Scullers Club, Ian coached the United States rowing team at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England.
