ONLINE TRAINING PROGRAMS.

Looking to spice up your training?

I have teamed up with to offer a few training programs for those looking to a bit more guidance on what they do in the gym.

Program 1: Earn the Bar.
Focusing on building the mobility and stability to help you get the most out of barbell training. This can used for newer lifters or old/beat up meatheads.

Program 2: Conjugate Bootcamp.

An intro to the conjugate training model without the need for bands or chains. This is great to do at any commercial gym and is a cool entry into this style of training.

Program 3: Barebones Strong.
No gimmicks here. Only the basics done well to get you in better shape, stronger, and more proficient in your training. This is great for off-season lifters or those looking to incorporate more conditioning into your programming.

Latest episode of Dave Tate’s Table talk is up on all platforms and the YouTube.

I got to spend the day with and his fiancé .

Recording some awesome videos and got to shoot the s**t on the podcast!

Cory is a true professional of the highest caliber. His ability to educate, inspire, and connect with his athletes is truly inspiring to me. If you are a coach this is a must listen episode and I am excited to continue to learn from Cory moving forward.

We were able to connect with similar stories regarding doing what you need to in order to gain the experience you need and to be in the room. The only way you will find success is by showing up no matter what.

Stability.

A pillar that should be high up when making decisions in your programming and training.

Internal stability is your ability to resist force through the use of your own body/positioning/skill.

External stability refers to resisting force through the use of outside forces such as benches/machines/holding on to s**t.

Why does this matter?

Well if you are looking to drive the most force, muscular tension, and metabolic stress through a particular muscle in order for it to grow, your best best is to use an external stabilized exercise.

If you are looking to develop your ability to stabilize load without the aid of external forces (think breathing and bracing) then a tool such as a dumbbell/KB/ or barbell may be the best bet.

This is merely an info graphic to get the point across that there are considerations you need to have as a coach or an athlete if you are looking to maximize your potential and your outcomes while mitigating unnecessary risk and “dumbass” decision making.

If all you have is a hammer the world is going to look like nails.

Develop your tools and gain the experience and knowledge necessary to implement them.

CHAIN GANG.

Chains are fun to utilize in training and are a form of accommodating resistance.

Give this a shot next deadlift day.

Throw 2-3 pairs of chains on the bar.

Hit a single

Strip a set of chains.

Hit a single.

Strip a set of chains and go for a set of 3-5.

This is a great way to get some volume in and still keep the intensity pretty high.

TRAINING PURPOSE.

What are you training for?

If you look at your program or training plan there needs to be a reason for the exercise selection, the rep/sets, the intensity level, and the interplay of the other exercises you pick on that day/week/block/ etc.

Beginning with the goal in mind and working backwards to break it down into the smallest unit of time.

This was my last set of these DL Stance SSB Low box squats.

This is a variation I chose for me specifically based on weaknesses I am working and that is to get my deadlift back up to where I want it to be again.

This squat variation allows me to work on the biggest factors needing improvement from my pulls off the floor and for improving my strongman specific lifts (stones/carries/etc)

The deadlift stance and the low box are forcing me to load more into my quads and stabilize/remain tight in greater degrees of hip and knee flexion. This is also the position that I would consider my weakest when pulling. If you notice my “sticking point” is usually where the bar would be breaking off the floor. This was intentional.

Secondly utilizing the SSB allows me to constantly challenge my upper back and trunk stability which truly can’t be strong enough when it comes to heavy carries and stones.

Besides being the tattoo on my back, “Burn the Boats” embodies the ability to not only commit to an opportunity but the willingness and ferocity at which to deny other paths.

This isn’t a “Plan A” or “Plan B” thing.

This is a “who the f**k is going to try and stop you” thing.

Become a Top Performer.⁣

No matter what the goal you are chasing is, there are clear and often overlooked principles that, if implemented, will help you better you chances of you ending up where you want to be.⁣

These are not ground breaking, and some would even consider these "simple" or "basic".⁣

That is why they are so important.⁣

Without the basic groundwork and fundamentals there can be no greater levels of complexity.⁣

Think of these principles as beacons for your future success.⁣

If you can keep your actions and thoughts between the buoys you will find that the path to success gets more clear.⁣

If you ignore these foundational principles, the trip starts to get very rough and you can easily find yourself off target and lost.⁣

1.) Be clear with your goals. Cut out the crap and rid yourself of anything less than crystal clear.⁣

2.) Your goals need to be challenging enough to motivate you to rise to the occasion. If they are too hard you will get discouraged. If they are too easy then they will not hold your attention. ⁣


3.) Secure your own (or your teams) commitment to the process. Without buy in then you are destined to fail because if deep down you do not trust the process then the process will not work.⁣

4.) Measure your progress and collect feedback from your experiences but also from coaches, trainers, or trusted objective third parties. We can get blind to our own bias and sometimes need another set of eyes to show us what is really going on.⁣

5.) Hardship will happen. No path to a goal is ever linear or without faults and failures. The key is to understand that and when you fail, fail forward and learn something from the experience. You will get knocked down but you only fail if you don't get back up.⁣
