Okay, before you meet Jill, a few things.
She’s warm. Truly. But she has a way of asking one quiet question that unravels a story you’ve been telling yourself for a decade. She won’t mean to. She’ll just be standing there looking kind, and suddenly you’ll be crying about your mother.
She’s a coach. Which means if you say “I’m fine,” she will not quite believe you. She has spent years studying nervous systems and conflict and what happens when women stop performing and start telling the truth. She can spot a brave face from across the room.
She raised five kids. She has grandchildren. She spent 28 years at home before any of this, so she has range. She can hold a hard marriage conversation and a tantrum in the same afternoon and probably has.
She lives in Cache Valley and loves the outdoors. If you go for a walk with her, it may turn into a backpacking trip. She once wandered into the Wind River Range. Pack layers.
She’s a woman of faith, but not the pushy kind. It’s just the ground she walks on. You’ll feel it more than hear it.
One real warning. She will not let you stay in the story where you’re the victim of your own life. She’s too kind for that. She’ll sit with you in it, and then, gently, she’ll open a door.
