✈️ Come See What You Can Build with Foam Board!

Join us for our LOWCRC September Meetup on Wednesday, September 9th and see how something as simple as Dollar Tree foam board can become a fully functioning RC airplane or model.

We’ll have several foam-built RC projects on display and talk about some of the design ideas, building techniques, problem-solving, electronics, and hands-on skills that are all part of the RC hobby.

You don’t need to already be involved in RC to come out. This is a great opportunity for families, students, makers, and anyone who enjoys learning how things work to see what the hobby is really about.

The RC hobby is about much more than flying—it can be a fun way to learn design, engineering, electronics, fabrication, troubleshooting, and creativity while actually building something you can see come to life.

Come meet the members of the Lake of the Woods Community RC Club, check out some of our projects, ask questions, and see what you can create with a few simple materials and a little imagination.

🚗✈️🚤 **Join Us This Wednesday for the LOWCRC Wednesday Meetup!**

Curious about the RC hobby—or wondering how the skills you learn through RC can apply to real-world technology?

Come out and spend some time with the **Lake of the Woods Community RC Club (LOWCRC)** this Wednesday! We’ll be answering questions about all areas of the RC hobby, including aircraft, drones, cars, boats, electronics, radio systems, and more.

I’ll also have several of my current technology projects on display, including an **autonomous RC boat that I’m currently building and developing**.

RC is much more than simply driving, flying, or boating. It can be a hands-on way to learn about:

🔧 Electronics & wiring
💻 Computers & programming
📡 Radio communications & telemetry
🛰️ GPS & autonomous navigation
🤖 Robotics & automation
🔋 Batteries, power systems & troubleshooting
🛠️ Design, fabrication & 3D printing

Whether you’re already involved in RC, thinking about getting started, interested in technology, or just curious about what our local club is doing, **come check us out and ask questions!**

We’d love to show you how the RC hobby can be both a lot of fun **and a practical gateway into STEM, engineering, robotics, and real-world technical skills.**

**Come meet the club, see some projects, and learn something new!**

Another Beautiful morning at the lake!

Just a quick example of things you can learn and design yourself when you get into the RC Hobby!

Just a quick example of things you can learn and design yourself when you get into the RC Hobby!

It’s interesting looking back at these earlier engineering notes and concept sketches now knowing how much the project has continued to evolve since then.
At the time these pages were created, I was still trying to understand how all the different systems might eventually work together:
• propulsion
• autonomy
• power distribution
• sensor placement
• communications
• modular upgrades
• environmental durability
• and long-term mission possibilities
Since then, the project has continued moving forward through testing, redesigns, experimentation, and a LOT of problem solving.
I’m hoping in the near future to finally begin sharing much more of the overall build process, development journey, lessons learned, and eventually the maiden voyage of the platform itself.
But even beyond the platform, the deeper mission of AlToneRobotics remains the same:
To inspire people to stop doubting their ability to learn, create, build, and solve problems.
I know what it feels like to second-guess yourself.
To feel like you’re “not qualified enough.”
To wonder whether your ideas are even worth pursuing.
But growth often begins the moment we decide to move forward anyway.
My hope is that this channel becomes more than just RC or robotics content.
I hope it becomes a place where people feel inspired to take the tools, skills, and experiences they already possess and apply them toward something meaningful that can serve others and positively impact their communities.
The journey is still unfolding…
and I’m looking forward to sharing much more soon.
