I hope you summer is going great. I want to share this information with you because Jaxon and Olivia attend Hyatt. Jaxon is a Unified member and his sister Olivia will be joining us soon.
A letter from their mom
🤍 WHY A STAIR LIFT? 🤍
When we first shared that our family was chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s Jogging For Jakey 5K, we explained that the funds raised would help us purchase a stair lift for Jaxon and Olivia.
But we wanted to share a little more about what that would actually mean for our family.
For most people, stairs are something you use without a second thought. For Jaxon and Olivia, who live with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, they can be a daily barrier inside their own home.
A stair lift wouldn’t simply be a piece of equipment.
It would mean more independence.
More safety.
Less physical strain on their bodies and ours.
And most importantly, greater access to their own home. 🤍
These are the kinds of things that can be difficult to explain because they’re such a normal part of our everyday life. We adapt. We carry. We lift. We figure it out.
But as our kids grow, their needs grow with them—and having the right equipment can make an incredible difference in their quality of life and independence.
That is why this year’s Jogging For Jakey 5K means so much to us.
Every person who registers, donates, or shares our story is helping us get closer to giving Jaxon and Olivia something every child deserves: the ability to safely and comfortably access their own home.
