Our Story

Perspective. Community. Mission. It’s what matters at Bluegrass Ceili Academy, Lexington’s award-winning community Irish dance program. For over a decade, we’ve fostered a vibrant culture of movement and friendship in Central Kentucky, and now we’re taking that mission out into the heart of our city. Ceili & Co. is a

traveling social dance series designed to bring people together. We partner with locally owned Lexington businesses to transform everyday spaces into community dance halls. What is a céilí? A céilí (pronounced kay-lee) is a traditional Irish social gathering centered on group dancing. At a Ceili & Co. event, we believe in "doing what makes your heart sing." It isn’t about the perfect performance; it’s about the Company you keep. Whether we are in a taproom, a creative workshop, or a local landmark, we are making Irish tradition a social staple of Lexington life. The Experience

From our certified instructors to our community-first philosophy, every event offers a welcoming, low-pressure environment. No partner or previous dance experience is ever required. The format is simple:
- The Steps: We lead a beginner-friendly workshop teaching a classic Irish social dance.
- The Sips: We follow the footwork with a social hour to enjoy a sip from our featured local partner. Join us as we celebrate our local partners and strengthen the bonds of our community—one step at a time. Join the Company.

It's our final scheduled summer social -- though more dates are coming soon! Come out for a beginner-friendly Irish social dance workshop for the first 45 minutes, followed by a relaxed social hour to grab a craft pour and support local.

No partner, formal class or previous experience is required. Wear comfortable sneakers, bring your crew, and help us celebrate a fantastic summer of dancing in neighborhood spaces! 💙☘️ 💚

We are bringing our traveling social series downtown! Our Bluegrass Ceili Academy instructors will lead a 45-minute beginner-friendly Irish social dance workshop followed by a casual social hour to connect over a fresh craft pour.

No partner, formal class or previous experience is required. Dancers (and dance fans) of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome!
