The National September 11 Memorial & Museum estimates that 100 million Americans are too young to remember Sept. 11, 2001.

Remembering 9/11 gives those an understanding of an attack that reshaped our country while preserving the human stories that reveal the courage and service shown in response.

Public remembrance ceremonies help carry that history forward. Those who remember can bear witness. Those born afterward can learn why the day still matters.

The Lewiston Fire Department invites the public to gather for a remembrance ceremony honoring the lives lost and the first responders who served. Hear stories about those who were killed and the bravery shown that day. The ceremony will also remember the six Mainers who lost their lives, including Lewiston native Robert Jalbert.

Only a few spots are left! Get kids on the court this fall to learn new skills and enjoy the game!

Designed for brand-new, beginner, and returning novice players, this program focuses on FUN while teaching the fundamentals of tennis through age-appropriate equipment, modified tennis balls, and engaging activities.

🎾 Grades 1–3: 4:30–5:30 PM
🎾 Grades 4–6: 5:30–6:30 PM
🎾 Grades 7–12: 6:30–7:30 PM

Our first Explore Archery session is in the books!

We’re excited to welcome 18 participants to our first-ever Explore Archery sessions with the Maine School of Archery, including 11 youth and 7 adults!

Led by expert instructors from the Maine School of Archery, participants are learning the fundamentals of archery. Throughout the program, participants will build their archery skills by learning proper stance, grip, aiming, drawing, anchoring, and release, while developing consistency, focus, and accuracy on the range.

We’re so excited to introduce more people in our community to this fun and rewarding sport. A big thank you to the Maine School of Archery for helping us make this new program possible!

NEW THIS FALL! Adult Tennis in the Parks with U.S. Tennis Association of New England!

We’re excited to partner with USTA Tennis in the Parks to offer a beginner-friendly program for adults who are brand new to tennis, just getting started, or returning to the sport.

Led by a USTA-approved coach, you’ll learn the basics, build your skills, and have fun while getting some great exercise. You’ll work on serving, rallying, and learning how to play in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.

Dates: Wednesdays, September 9 – October 14
Time: 6:00–7:30 PM
Location: Anita Murphy Tennis Courts at Lewiston High School
Cost: $80 Residents | $90 Non-Residents

Bring a tennis racket, comfortable clothing, sneakers, and water. Need a racket? A limited number of loaners will be available to borrow during class.
