THE REASON BEHIND THE PROGRAM:

When I began my coaching career at North Idaho College, our training focused almost exclusively on field sessions. While our athletes worked hard and developed their technical and tactical skills, we experienced a significant number of injuries during the season. By the time playoffs arrived, the physical demands of the season had taken their toll, and our athletes were often exhausted.

Determined to find a solution, I began researching ways to better support our players' health, recovery, and overall performance. One consistent theme emerged: the importance of incorporating strength and conditioning into our program. The goal wasn't to create powerlifters or have athletes lifting heavy weights—it was to build resilience, maintain muscle strength, improve recovery, and better prepare athletes for the physical demands of their sport.

The first season we implemented a structured strength and conditioning program, the results were remarkable. We completed the season without a significant injury and entered the playoffs looking just as strong and prepared as we did in our opening game.

Initially, some athletes experienced soreness as they adapted to proper lifting techniques and a structured training routine. However, as our off-season strength and conditioning program continued to evolve, those challenges diminished. Athletes reported feeling stronger, recovering more effectively, and being better equipped to handle the demands of travel, training, and multiple competitions each week.

When I returned to the Lewiston area, I wanted to bring the knowledge and experience I gained at the collegiate level back to our local athletes. My goal is to help young athletes reduce their risk of injury, improve recovery, and develop a strong foundation in proper strength and conditioning techniques that will benefit them throughout their athletic careers.

This training program is designed to be individualized and sport-specific. It goes beyond traditional weightlifting by incorporating proper warm-up routines, resistance band activation, mobility work, recovery strategies, cool-down protocols, and education on how athletes can take care of their bodies both on and off the field. Every aspect of the program is focused on helping athletes perform at their best while staying healthy throughout their season.

While the program is primarily designed for individual athletes, I am also interested in working with teams, clubs, and organizations. If your club or team is interested in creating a customized strength and conditioning program for an entire roster, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can work together to support your athletes' development and success.

My name is Kellsi Parson, and I recently partnered with Austin Arnett’s MMA Gym to bring a specialized strength and conditioning program to the Lewis-Clark Valley and surrounding area.

A little background on me: I graduated from Lewiston High School before continuing my athletic career at North Idaho College, where I competed in both soccer and softball. Following my playing career, I served as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at North Idaho College for eight years. During my time at NIC, I also oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for both the women’s soccer and softball teams.

After leaving NIC in January, I knew I wanted to remain involved in athletics and athlete development. I earned my Personal Training Certification and quickly recognized a need for more specialized training opportunities for athletes in our area. As a result, I have focused my training services on helping athletes improve their strength, speed, agility, and overall performance.

Beginning July 1, I will be launching a strength and conditioning program at Arnett’s Martial Arts America. The program will consist of two training packages to choose from!

Unlike many traditional training facilities, there is no monthly gym membership fee. Athletes will only pay for the training sessions they attend.

If you have athletes who are interested in improving their athletic performance and would benefit from structured strength and conditioning training, I would appreciate the opportunity to work with them.

Please feel free to have interested athletes or parents contact me at to here about the two packages offered:
