November 4, 2020 – Happy Birthday!

Good morning!

I want to take the time to give thanks to someone who is at least partially responsible for me getting interested in the prospect of becoming a coach and someone who is an even greater person than he is a coach.

He’s received multiple awards for coach of the year, won five state championships, and coached an undefeated season. If you’re wondering, he has been inducted into a hall of fame that he helped start.

He’s also an outstanding son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. I’ve had a chance to see this at a variety of functions with family and friends present.

I am talking about Rick Zych, the head boys’ basketball coach at Bishop Miege High School. I am grateful to have been a small part of your life since we first met on a field trip back in 1997. Thank you for asking me to come along for the ride.

For all that you do and continue to do for me, your family, your friends, your players, and others, thank you and Happy Birthday.
