AJUPEME-USA will pull away from participating in any and all Cesar E. Chavez related activities.
And it appears that the timing of this news was both strategic and internationally aimed to tarnish not just his legacy, but potentially vilify an entire people, the farmworkers union, the Chicano movement, while simultaneously inciting confusion, division, and distrust in our community leaders both in past and present.
AJUPEME-USA stands in solidarity with survivors and respects their courage in coming forward. We have to remember and think of the survivors who have had to carry this trauma for years that finally chose to speak up, so out of respect AJUPEME-USA will stand down and retract from all activities related to Cesar E. Chavez.
AJUPEME-USA remains committed to upholding integrity, accountability, and solidarity within our communities. We believe survivors must be heard and respected, and we will move forward guided by those principles.
