ποΈββοΈ LVGA Summer Golf Hydration Tips βοΈπ§
With temperatures climbing in Las Vegas, staying hydrated isnβt just about playing better golfβitβs about staying safe. After my recent experience with heat exhaustion, I wanted to share a few tips that may help everyone enjoy their round and avoid a trip to urgent care.
β
Start Hydrating the Night Before
Donβt wait until you get to the course. Drink plenty of water the evening before and again when you wake up.
β
Drink Before Youβre Thirsty
If youβre thirsty, youβre already behind. Take a few sips of water every hole, even if you donβt feel thirsty.
β
Use Electrolytes
Water alone may not be enough. Consider sports drinks, electrolyte packets, Liquid I.V., Gatorade Zero, Pedialyte, or similar products to replace minerals lost through sweat.
β
Avoid Excessive Alcohol
A couple of beers may sound refreshing, but alcohol accelerates dehydration and increases the risk of heat-related illness.
β
Eat Something During the Round
Snacks such as bananas, nuts, protein bars, or peanut butter crackers help maintain energy and replace nutrients lost through sweating.
β
Dress for the Heat
Wear light-colored clothing, a wide-brim hat or bucket hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. UV sleeves and cooling towels can make a huge difference.
β
Stay in the Shade When Possible
Use the cart canopy, seek shade while waiting on tee boxes, and avoid standing in direct sunlight longer than necessary.
π¨ Know the Warning Signs of Heat Exhaustion
* Dizziness
* Headache
* Nausea
* Excessive sweating
* Muscle cramps
* Weakness or fatigue
If you experience any of these symptoms, stop playing immediately, move to a cool area, drink fluids, and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
Remember, no golf game is worth risking your health. Letβs all play smart, stay hydrated, and make it through another Las Vegas summer safely.
See you on the course! β³π
