Now in “winter” Hours: Adults@930 Teens@1045 Lanes open.Equip provided! Let me first introduce myself. I’m Joseph Pike, an 8th-grade chemistry and physics teacher and engineering teacher at Saint Paul’s Middle School, where I teach 8th-grade skateboard design, 7th-grade trebuchet catapults design, and middle school competitive robotics. As a wonderful hobby, I’m an archery enthusiast. I’m a nation
al level - 3 certified archery coach, through the United States Archery Association (USAA), the governing body of the USA Archery Olympic and National Teams, a national level – 1 USAA judge, and a national USAA instructor trainer. Archers will learn many things about archery and do it with great fun, but most importantly, will learn it safely. Safety will be a priority in everything we do. The first archery session will include archery safety, parts to the bow, how to handle a bow, understanding the range layout, whistle commands, determining eye and arm dominance, measuring and outfitting for a bow (for archers who are renting), and introducing the NTS (National Training System) and learning about different bows and parts to a bow. Additionally, archers will have an opportunity to compete with other archers taking the class in a mini-tournament as well as be given information regarding nearby sanction state and national tournaments. I teach archery after school, where I teach science and technology, but I also have weekend archery clubs at the Largo Recreation Complex at their Southwest Center and is on Saturday mornings from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM for adults and teens archery following shortly thereafter. To register for the City of Largo's Rec Center location go to www.playlargo.com
