The Lapwai Varsity Wildcats continue to lay the foundation for a growing program, showing resilience and determination in Friday’s matchup against Clearwater Valley.

While the final score doesn’t reflect the heart and effort these boys brought to the field, the Wildcats came out swinging early. Terance Greene led the charge in the first inning with a clutch single that drove in two runs, setting the tone and showing the fight this team carries.

Clearwater Valley capitalized on a big first inning, but the Wildcats never backed down. This group continues to compete, learn, and grow with every pitch, every inning, and every game. For a team still building — and doing so without the advantage of a home field to practice on — their effort speaks volumes.

Greene had a standout performance at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 and leading the team with two RBIs. On the mound, the Wildcats battled through a tough lineup, continuing to push forward and gain valuable experience that will only make them stronger moving ahead.

This season isn’t just about wins and losses — it’s about building a program, developing young athletes, and creating a culture of toughness, pride, and perseverance. And that’s exactly what these Wildcats are doing.

We are proud of you, boys. Keep showing up, keep working, and keep believing. The growth is happening, and the future is bright. 💙🐾

Next up: The Wildcats return home to take on Prairie on Thursday. Let’s pack the stands and support these boys!

The nimiipuu are a very athletic and competitive people. In the past physical agility and prowess could help feed and protect your family. Competitive games were a way to show your abilities and possibly increase your standing in the community.
Today’s nimiipuu are just as competitive and athletically active as in the past. The tribal headquarters are located in the city of Lapwai whose high school sports teams have won numerous state championships in football, baseball, and basketball.
