🎯 Target Talk Tuesday: Setting Up Your Bow the Right Way
Whether you’re brand new to archery or upgrading equipment, a proper bow setup makes all the difference in accuracy, consistency, and safety.
Here’s what should be checked when setting up your bow:
🔧 Draw Length – One of the most important measurements. Too long or too short can affect form and cause shoulder strain.
⚖️ Draw Weight – Set it to a weight you can pull smoothly and hold steady. Heavy lifting doesn’t win tournaments — consistency does.
🎯 Arrow Rest & Nocking Point – Proper alignment ensures clean arrow flight.
📍 Peep Sight / Sight Tape Setup – Needs to be positioned specifically to YOU and your anchor point.
🧵 D-Loop & Release Setup – Proper length and alignment prevent torque and inconsistency.
🪶 Arrow Spine Matching – Your arrows must match your draw weight and length for optimal performance.
A poorly set up bow can lead to:
❌ Inconsistent groups
❌ Frustration
❌ Target panic habits
❌ Injury over time
The good news? You don’t have to do it alone.
If you’re local, stop into a reputable pro shop like:
