Now offering a YOUTH SUMMER TRIATHLON Program!

Summer arrived before I was ready for it but the good news is that I have a plan in place!

Starting: Thursday June 11th I will conduct 19 group sessions, plus 1 one-on-one session with your child. The goal is to prepare the kids for USAT Nationals which are the first weekend in August. I would love for our team to participate as individuals this year and hopefully as a relay next year!

Here is what the weekly schedule looks like:
Tuesday 7:30-8:30 PM - Running at Milliken in Spartanburg, SC
Thursday 7-8:30 PM - Swim, Bike, Run at Lake Lanier in Landrum, SC
Sunday 7-8 PM - Bike and Run at Oak Grove Lake in Greenville, SC

Races:
June 28th - Mt. Pleasant Youth Tri - more info to come; their website is not working
July 11th - Peachtree City Youth Tri - Cost $60
August 1-2 - USAT Youth Nationals in Ohio $85
Sept 7 - Strong Kids - Simpsonville, SC $45

I have multiple FREE USAT memberships so please let me know if your child needs one. Every child will need to be a member of USAT for insurance purposes.

Bikes:
I have some small road bikes that I am willing to loan out for the season, just let me know if your child needs one.

Coaches:
Katie Malone - USAT Level II
Kaitlin Holman - Strength and Conditioning Coach for youth

Goal of this group:
To provide a SAFE environment for youth to explore the sport of triathlon and gain the skills needed to compete and not just complete. Have fun, build friendships and bond through the sport!

Cost:
$300 for the summer program

🚨 Don't Be Left Sitting on the Dock! 🚨

Open Water Swim Season is in full swing, and we're having a blast at the lake! Every other week we have a different workout planned, and the more swimmers who show up, the more fun it becomes.

πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ This week's challenge: How Far Can You Go?
We'll follow the buoy trail for a continuous endurance swim and see what we're capable of. Whether you're training for your next race or just looking to build confidence in open water, this is a great opportunity to get some quality swim time with friends.

⏰ Schedule:
β€’ 6:30 PM – Quick drills and technique work
β€’ 6:40 PM – 50 minutes of continuous swimming begins
Not ready for 50 minutes nonstop? No problem! Stay near the dock, focus on technique, and make a few trips out to the 200m buoy. Every swimmer is welcome, and every level has a place in the workout.

Come challenge yourself, enjoy the lake, and be part of the fun. Bring a friend, encourage a teammate, and let's see how far we can go together!

πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ See you at the lake!

The only bad swim is the one you didn't show up for.

Good luck to Paul Heitmann and Aimee Jennifer tomorrow as they race 70.3 Victoria. I know Paul has put in the work and that Coach Heath Dotson has Aimee ready too!

Fun Fact: Paul drove their camper all the way across the country to Victoria with their 2 dogs and Aimee flew out to meet them What an epic adventure! After the race they will be exploring National Parks together.

Spring Camp 2026 is in the books, the name was Uncomfortable on Purpose and between the swims, the transition practice, the Harmon Field Half Marathon and the long bike ride on Sunday with 2x10 mile Time Trials thrown in, I think it lived up to its name. Not only were the workouts tough, our team learned how to lean into each other, and push together, because you will always perform better when you have a team surrounding you. Creating an environment for adults to learn and grow is by far the most rewarding part of camp. Building relationships that will continue far past the sport ...that is what I call transformational!

Lean Kitchen Spartanburg fed us and Coach Jim Cunningham came to help on the bike, Becky Corthell from the Tenacity Hub helped us learn to focus, Coach Heather St. Amant filled in all the gaps and Liz Zondlak kept up with every other little detail.

Thank you to all the campers that attended!

This week I have been so busy I haven't posted at all! I took lots of great pictures and many athletes had great results that I will be sharing soon. My training wasn't perfect, the time I spent in front of the computer was minimal but yet the week felt full in all the best ways. Normally after camp (a whole post coming on that) I feel a real let down, but this year I was energized. Nothing has been perfect this week and that is ok, because we are not chasing perfection. Today I am taking a day at my desk to get caught up and giving myself a little grace.

For the next 2 weeks on Monday nights (May 4th & 11th) at 6:30 PM you have the opportunity to do some serious open water swimming. Everyone always asks me how they can get to be better swimmers...here is the key: SHOW UP and then SHOW UP again next week...create some habits that support your goals!
