💙🏀 PIONEER PRIDE is TOMORROW 🏀💙

Dear Boys Basketball Families,

We wanted to provide you with an update regarding our boys basketball coaching staff and the upcoming season.

We are pleased to share that Neil Koser is being recommended as our new Head Boys Basketball Coach, and Bernt “Bear” King is being recommended as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach. Both appointments are pending school board approval in September.

With these changes, our 9th grade and 7th grade coaching positions are now open, and we will begin working to fill those positions as soon as possible. If you know someone who may be interested, the openings can be found here:

Coach Koser shared:

“First off, I’m honored to be named the new head coach. I’m excited for Coach King to be on board as well. I know him, and we agree on a lot of philosophies. I’m looking forward to getting started and having a successful season.”

A Few Important Dates

Pioneer Pride Classic – Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m.
We would love to see our basketball families and players at the Pioneer Pride Classic on the turf field! Coach Koser will be in the end zone closest to the track. Please wear anything LS/Pioneer Pride. We understand that many of our players may be sitting with other teams they are involved with, and that is completely fine. All Jr High players from last year are invited to sit with the High School players.

Open Gyms – Beginning Tuesday, September 1
Open gyms will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30–7:30 p.m. in the High School Upstairs Gym. These open gyms are for players entering 9th grade through seniors.

If your son is participating in another fall sport and cannot attend, the coaches understand. For everyone else, this will be a great opportunity to get back in the gym and begin preparing for the upcoming season.

We appreciate everyone's patience and support throughout this process. We are excited to move forward, get our players back together, and begin building toward a successful season!

The Pioneer Pride Classic will be held on Thursday, August 27, at 7:00 PM at Pioneer Field at J. K. Mechanical Stadium.

L-S Varsity Club will be selling Chick-fil-A meals and Pioneer Strong t-shirts. Meals and shirts can be purchased and picked up between 4:45–6:45 PM at the Concession Stand at the Pioneer Stadium.

The Pioneer Strong fundraiser supports L-S students, staff, and community members during emergencies or times of need. Meals and shirts may still be purchased onsite that evening but ordering ahead is recommended.

Online Ordering Note: You do not need to add a contribution when ordering online. Simply select “OTHER” and type in $0.

LS Youth players get some work in during the off season

🏀 Summer Open Gyms are here! ☀️

Our outdoor open gyms start this week! Come stay active, build your skills, and get ready for travel team tryouts this fall.

Open to all LS youth players interested in our travel basketball program.

No pressure—just a great opportunity to learn, compete, and have fun!

• 4th Grade Boys: Thursdays (July 16–Aug. 13) | 4:00–5:00 PM
• 5th Grade Boys: Mondays (July 13–Aug. 10) | 6:00–7:00 PM
• 6th Grade Boys: Wednesdays (July 15–Aug. 12) | 4:30–5:30 PM
• 4th Grade Girls: Wednesdays (July 15–Aug. 12) | 6:00–7:00 PM
• 5th & 6th Grade Girls: Outdoor sessions are postponed until the summer league concludes. Contact Brad Cieszynski or Brad Koehler for more information.

*14 Jul update - Due to the forecast on Wednesday, we are going to move this week’s open gyms for 6th grade boys and 4th grade girls.
- 6th grade boys - will meet tonight, 7/13 4:30PM-5:30PM
- 4th grade girls - will meet on Friday 7/17 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
