Whether Journey was on the basketball court or out on the softball field, one thing remains constant—you’ll always find his daughter, Kaislee close by. His love for the game was undeniable, but his greatest passion was always being a dad. No matter the score, no matter the stage, he’s shown that fatherhood comes first. This award honors a dad whose true legacy isn't just his talent, but the way he’s raised, supported, and stayed side-by-side with his greatest teammate—his daughter.

Chosen with love by Kaislee’s mother, this award is a personal tribute to Journey whose dedication to his daughter has been a constant, beautiful reminder of what truly matters. While every dad out here shows love in his own way, this honor simply celebrates one special bond that’s been inspiring to watch—on and off the court.

Congratulations to Swish 40 for taking home the championship at the First Annual Journey Emerson Memorial Basketball Tournament! Each team member received a Starquilt and a black Nike Dri-FIT zip-up jacket in honor of their hard-fought victory.

Karson Peffer was named Tournament MVP, earning Skyn trunks, a Nike Tech full-zip hoodie, and a medallion. A special thank you to Nashon Bighorn and Family for donating a Starquilt blanket for the MVP, and to Debbie Charette and Family for contributing a Monster speaker as an additional MVP prize.

Our lone overtime game was the undefeated semifinal on Sunday morning between Swish 40 and Bandits. Trey Hladky of the Bandits hit two free throws with 9 seconds left to tie the game before Swish 40 had the game winning attempt hit just short. Swish 40 hit three 3-pointers in overtime to pull away and advance to the Championship game with a 74-63 OT win. Swish 40 had balanced scoring as five players scored in double figures, while Hladky led the Bandits with 22 points and DC Stewart added 19.
