South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles Roll Past Henry Hudson Varsity Admirals.
South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles won big over Henry Hudson Varsity Admirals 14-2 on Tuesday at South Hunterdon Regional High School.
South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kiera Craven tripled down the left field line, Anika Balog singled to left field, Payton Polukord singled to center field, Carin Gallagher hit a sacrifice fly, Abby Greve doubled down the left field line, and Erin OβRourke singled to right field, each scoring one run.
A single by Hailey Brown extended the South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Craven singled, scoring one run, Polukord singled, scoring two runs, Brown hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Brooklyn Hughes doubled, scoring one run, and OβRourke doubled, scoring one run.
Elsie Scheetz earned the win for South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles. The lefty gave up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Lucia Fariello took the loss for Henry Hudson Varsity Admirals. The pitcher went four innings, giving up 14 runs on 16 hits, striking out two and walking five. Aidan Steffanelli appeared in relief for South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles.
South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles piled up 16 hits in the game. OβRourke led South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Brown and Polukord were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles. Craven, Hughes, and Balog each collected multiple hits for South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles. Balog and Polukord each stole multiple bases for South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles. South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. South Hunterdon Varsity Eagles ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game.
