Results from the Northeastern JC Spring Invite. Your LCC Runnin Lopes traveled to Sterling, CO to compete in the NJC Spring Invite on April 2nd & 3rd. Day one had great spring conditions with your LCC Runnin Lopes finishing the day in 3rd place. Team scores for day 1 were 296 +8. Eastern Wyoming and Central Wyoming held down 1st & 2nd place. LCC was poised to make up some ground on day 2, unfortunately mother nature had other plans. Day 2 was canceled after only playing 4 holes on Friday, with winds blowing between 30 and 40mph. Region 9 director deemed the course to be playing unfair because of the weather. Your LCC Runnin Lopes finished in 3rd place in the team competition. Here are your individual scores from day 1 of competition

Cody Shatzer- 69 (solo 2nd place) and your new overall points leader in region 9 play
Calvert Layne- 73 +1 T12th

Preston Peters- 80 +8 T37th
Noah Rader- 81 +9 39th

Levi Meeres- 86 +14 T45th

Next week your LCC Runnin Lopes travel to Torrington, WY to compete in the Eastern Wyoming Invite. Hopefully the weather cooperates and teams are able to compete for both days. After the Eastern Wyoming competition, teams only have one more tournament before regional action starts in Loveland, CO at the Old Course. We feel confident as a team heading into the end of our spring season and have our eyes set on regionals. Wish some luck to your LCC Runnin Lopes as they travel to Wyoming and as always GO LOPES!!!

The second tournament of our spring season is behind us now. After absolutely brutal weather conditions, here is a recap of the MCC (McCook, NE) Spring tournament.

Your LCC Runnin Lopes finished in 5th place as a team and missed a 3rd place tie by just 2 shots! The first day was a beast out there on an already hard golf course. While the whole day, the wind was blowing 30+ mph all day long. Several coaches had to put the flag stick back in the hole because the wind was blowing so hard. Day two the wind lessened but so did the temperature. It was 38Β° as the golfers teed off but the winds subsided to 10mph. Here are the results of your LCC RUNNIN LOPES

Cody Shatzer 81-73 = 154, T9th
Calvert Layne 84-72 = 156, solo 12th
Parker Shirola 90-76 = 166, T25th
Preston Peters 80-90 = 170, T28th
Noah Rader 98-85 = 183, T36th

Individual

Levi Meeres 92-86 = 178, solo 34th

Team scores

Day 1 LCC 335, 5th place

Day 2 LCC 306, 3rd place for the day

Final team results were LCC 641, solo 5th place

Next week your LCC RUNNIN LOPES travel to Sterling, CO To compete in the Northeastern JC Spring Invite, held on April 2nd and 3rd. The team needs to start gaining some momentum ahead of our district 9 regionals which will be held on April 23rd and 24th. Regionals is a 54 hole competition with the top 4 teams advancing to the NJCAA national finals which is being held in Newton, KS on May 11th thru the 13th. I feel we have the talent in district 9 competition to be able to advance the the national finals. We will continue to practice and further ourselves to get there.

GO LOPES!!!!

I made a mistake on the last post and I have to clarify it. We finished 2 shots behind eastern Wyoming On day one here in Lamar and we finished 20 shots behind them on day 2 in LA Junta .but it was still good enough for 2nd place. Sorry for the mistake.
