Tuesday I had Tyler out at Team United MMA.

We talked about how MMA shapes more than just fighters. It shapes how we move through life, business, and purpose. He’s now taking that into his fight against trafficking in Thailand.

He shared parts of his story I hadn’t heard before. As a coach, that’s not something you always get.

I’m grateful for that conversation and proud of the man he’s become.

We don’t protect territory.
We build warriors.

Last Friday Danny from Jitzlife stepped on our mats and led the room. And he’s one of several guest instructors we intentionally bring in throughout the year.

Not because we lack anything.
But because growth demands pressure.

Different voices.
Different systems.
Different ways of seeing the same fight.

Weak leaders guard knowledge.
Strong leaders multiply it.

If one sentence from another coach unlocks something in one of our students, that’s a win.

Because this isn’t about credit.
It’s about development.

Iron sharpens iron.
Ego dulls it.

At Team United, we choose iron.

Yesterday, Trevor and Samson both competed at Grappling Industries.

I won’t go into our gym ethos, but I will absolutely tell you. Both of them executed it perfectly. They were both thinking men out on those mats. They listened well.

We won some matches. We lost some. Those will come and go.

What will stay is their growth. The ability to stay calm under pressure. They disciplined their emotions and listened to every suggestion I gave them.

I am humbled beyond measure to have been in their corner. I am so very proud of both of you.

The belts and titles will come and go. What you both have can never be taken away from you.

For that, I am honored to have a small part of that growth with you.

Day before Thanksgiving and we still had 6 on the mats.
That’s discipline.
That’s commitment.
When everyone else slows down, they showed up.
Health first. Consistency always.
This is their holiday language.

Everyone wants the 1-second highlight.
But this is what real growth actually looks like.

This is Kevin’s first day. His punches aren’t clean. His stance isn’t perfect. His technique is… well, day-one technique.

But look closer.
You’ll see his whole system shift from rigid, fast, and jittery…
to calm, smooth, focused, and in control.

This video isn’t about fighting.
It’s about watching a man learn how to slow his brain down so his body can do what he’s asking of it.

That ability?
That’s life-changing! On and off the mats.
