Hello Lakers' Families,

I hope everyone's season is off to a productive and positive start.

The Lakers' Hockey Board has made the decision, for the safety of our players, to mandate neck guards to be worn by ALL players (6u and older) within our association starting December 1st. This decision was made at the November 5th Board Meeting.

With the recent tragedy of Adam Johnson, who died from a neck injury, playing in the English Pro Hockey League, the Lakers' Hockey Board believes that neck guards lower the risk of a tragedy occurring. Currently, USA Hockey does not require players to wear neck guards, but we will make neck guards a required piece of equipment to be worn by all association players for practices and games.

We know that neck guard supply at this time might become an issue but want to strongly encourage the immediate use of neck guards. Neck guards will be required to be worn by all SLP players prior to playing both in practice and in games on December 1st, 2023. We appreciate your cooperation and support with this safety measure for our players.

After shooting over a dozen CAN/AM & Northwood School Hockey games this weekend, Joe DeForest stayed for one more and captured our White team's game against Tupper Lake Youth Hockey Assoc.

Its Hockey Day everyone!

A major skill we want to work on this year is offensive zone passing, skating, and control.

This drill will be called 'ONSLAUGHT'.

Parents, please take 5 minutes to look at it with your Hockey Player, read the directions, and do your best to memorize the play.

Essentially Player 1 (P1) Makes two passes and goes to the net for rebounds... and Player 2 (P2) takes two shots., one from the top of the circle and one from in front the net.

BUT DONT WORRY! We will go over it at practice and fully expect to take this one slowly until it becomes 2nd nature later in the year!
