Jefferson Speedway Wisconsin State Championship Results for Axel.
When we bought the bandit earlier this season we were going in with a completely open mind. The bandits had already raced a few races of the season, so we told Axel that this was going to be a season of learning a new car (driving manual) and understanding a whole new division.
Needless to say Axel hit the track and wasted no time. Not only did he manage to finish up in the top 10 in points (P7), he pulled off Rookie of the Year, completing 7 out of 10 races.
Wisconsin State Championship’s results:
Friday
Qualifying: P2
Feature P2
Saturday
We had a lot of hope going into Saturday. As everyone knows all it takes is one minor setback to happen and it can basically end any sort of chance you have at winning State Championship… unfortunately that setback happened in feature 1.
Feature 1- DNF … Axel got hit hard from behind (once again) pounding his front end into another car in front of him damaging his radiator. This was catastrophic causing his car to overheat and he had to pull off. Unfortunately, when we got the car, ours didn’t come built with all the extra front protection that everyone else has. So any hard hit to the front has usually caused more damage than it would for someone else. Fixing this is first on the to do list now that the season is over and time allows. Four radiators during the season from bumper shots gets to be costly. Luckily we had a spare patched up radiator in the trailer that we brought along. The guys got to work and took out the radiator that they replaced on Wednesday and made it just in time for feature 2.
Feature 2- P2
Overall finish P6 for the weekend.
It sucks having a DNF bring you down when your whole weekend was solid P2 finishes. Still proud proud of the entire team for figuring things out and still having strong finishes. We will regroup, rebuild and come back stronger next season! 🏁
